The whole Q character and story line completely jumped the shark when it got to Voyager. I mean a Q civil war where the Voyager crew get involved? or a Q kid? C'mon...
I'm pretty sure everyone on this board has seen it by now, mostly because I remember all the threads about it for the past couple of years and the motion picture, but Firefly is probably my favorite sci-fi show of all time. I think some people will disagree and say it is more of a western than a true sci-fi show, but that's what I like about it. It crossed so many boundaries in such a short amount of time, and when you mix in great story telling, interesting characters, and long story arcs (which would have been longer if the show hadn't been axed); you get something special. As far as other shows I've heard about that I should probably take the time to see some time: Quantum Leap, Northern Exposure, Twin Peaks, etc... Mostly all those shows that were around when I was 5 years old. And anyone that likes Joss Whedon should be excited that he's coming back to TV with a show called Dollhouse. Another show that reminds me of some of Joss' shows is Reaper. It follows the monster of the week while encompassing interesting characters and big story arcs (One that eneded the season off perfectly). Took me awhile to like the lead character, but half way through the season it became one of my favorite new shows.
