Wow ... after the smack Jim Harbough was talking about Pete Carroll, I didn't think there was any way this would happen.
Saw it coming. Called USC to lose at least 2 this year. Their defense is the most over-hyped since the BCS, no joke. In addition this is not only the weakest USC team since 2003, the PAC-10 is the strongest it has ever been. ESPN needs to stop with the slurping and call it like it is...
USC will prolly stay in the top 10 or 15. This upset is in no way as ridiculous and unexpected as what happened to Michigan. They can, realistically, do NOTHING to redeem themselves this season, whereas USC is not completely out fo the hunt for a BCS Bowl game
Was Michigan favored by 41 over Appalachian State? If you look at the historic significance, Michigan's fall was greater. But Stanford doesn't have a halfway decent team and was supposed to lose by 6 touchdowns. Both games were incredible. I'm still mad I didn't realize the game was on Versus.
There wasn't even a line on the Michigan game. That is how bad they were supposed to beat App. State.
If you lose to a Div I-AA, it does not matter if you go undefeated and win ur bowl game. You will FOREVER be remembered as "that" team
Exactly, there is no way in hell they were supposed to lose or anyone outside of the backwoods of Carolina predicted Michigan was going to lose
Coming from Cal I have never rooted so much for Stanford as I had for that game. Cal is #2 and just has to take care of business for our first National Championship in about 50 years! I have to admit though personally I would almost take the Rose Bowl over a national championship appearence in the Sugar Bowl.
Eh, that's a different question. I'm just saying, knowing what we know now -- particularly now that the win over Michigan brought to light all of App. State's accomplishments the last two seasons -- I think they are on par with the very, very low Division I-A teams.
apparently sagarin's system would have app. st. favored by 3 over stanford on a neutral field. not sure how well that system can work 4 or 5 games into a season when the two teams play in a separate division, but it is worth noting. one team is a back to back national champ, the other had lost something like 14 of it's last 16, and was losing pac-10 games by an average score of 47-17. losing to them seems to be at least as bad as losing to app st.
This really sucks ... if only the Gators had beaten LSU, they would be front runners for the national title now.
Hawaii looks to me like the only remaining team that could go undefeated and still not make the championship game ahead of a one-loss team. True?
Probably, and that's the way it should be. Nobody would want to see frickin Hawaii in a National championship game except for a few people in Hawaii.
Dude, don't even get me started. If we stopped Auburn from getting in fg position in the final seconds of last week. If we stopped LSU on ANY of their 4th downs. But that's what the game is all about. Such a shame, everyone in the bar I was watching at started cheering when they showed the final score of the USC game. My only consolation is Florida came out from the start of the season looking even better than people expected. Before this season started, most people thought we'd be a serious contender next year, not this year. And as much as it pains me to see Florida is pretty much out of the championship race, this is probably the most exciting season of college football I've ever seen. I usually don't give a crap for anyone outside my team. Who knows, it's been so crazy so far, maybe, just maybe, a two loss team makes the championship game. Ok, I know I'm being delusional
