Aziz Ansari, Zach Galifinakis, Jim Gaffigan, and Rhys Darby are my favorites right now. Old school Daniel Tosh is also hilarious. I was a big fan of DC Benny's comedy central presents special as well.

Todd Barry is an underground comic legend in NYC. Check out Hannibal Burress as well. He opens for Aziz alot. These guys are all well known at UCB Theatre in NYC.

Basically what everyone else has said. Louis CK, Galifinakas, Aziz, Swardson (Terry from Reno 911!).

I'll also add Dave Attell and David Cross (his earlier stuff is better). I just saw JB Smoove (Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm) do a few minutes and was impressed. I'll keep my eye out for him.

I still regret missing Galifinakas' show a few years ago because I got so hammered right before and fell asleep.

I've gone over this Louie CK business at least a few times on here, but if you missed it...

... don't feel like finding the others, but they're there.

He also had a show on HBO called Lucky Louie, DL them and you won't be disappointed, although it wasn't as good as his new show.

I've never heard anyone else talk about him on here, so I think it's kind of funny that now that he has new show he's a couple of peoples favorite stand-up comedian when they probably have never even seen his stand-up--good stuff.

Lous CK is hilarious. I think his show on FX (Louis, in its first season) is a good reflection of his humor. You can watch episodes of it on Hulu.

Here he was on Conan some years back. Unlike most of his stand-up, this is SFW.

Eddie Izzard's "Dressed to Kill" special is one of my all-time favorites.

    He's a very funny man.

Russell Peters is pretty funny, his act is all about making racial jokes/dead on impressions

I've followed Louie for many years. First really heard him when he'd do guest spots on Opie and Anthony every once in a while, then I found out he used to be a writer for Conan, so my interest was piqued. Lucky Louie was a funny show, enjoyed it a lot. He's done a lot of things, but his stand-up to me is the best thing he does, even as much as I love the new show.

He's actually one of the the most mentioned comedians whenever a stand-up comic thread is posted around here, going on a few years I imagine.

I never get around to catching his show since my TV watching is so erratic and seldom nowadays. I'm also always skeptical about stand-ups doing a sitcom (I don't remember the reviews being good for his HBO stint, for example), but I'm glad to hear this one is good...I'll try to find it on Hulu or something.

We went to see Jo Koy at Improv a few months ago and he was hilarious. He will be back at the Improv August 12-15. I think we might go see his show again. I think he is a regular on Chelsea Handler show.

I agree, I was just saying I haven't really seen anyone else talk about him, I'm most likely wrong, you've obviously got a firm grip on pop culture, moes. (meant as compliment, not being a penis)

I know I've only been posting here for a year, but I just haven't seen it. Defiantly do check out his new show, it's on tuesdays 10pm, after Rescue Me (a show you should also be watching).

This. I was about to be disappointed that nobody had mentioned him. Dressed to Kill is probably his best standup special, but he's pretty damn entertaining in all of them.

I don't know about the rest of his stuff, but Howie Mandel on Ice was one of the funniest stand up acts I've ever seen. Wish I still had that tape (or a VCR for that matter).

    My favorites right now are

    Ricky Gervais (my favorite)
    Louis CK
    Nick Swardson
    Aziz Ansari
    Jim Gaffigan

Zach Galifianakis' stuff is pretty different, there are some pretty funny parts but it is not for everyone
