I don't want to see anyone other than Sura traded....... IMHO, the Rockets should see what happens in the playoffs with this group, and keep the young guys because they are the team in the next 3 years. I might consider Bonzi & Padget as tradeable......if we get a player who can contribute right away....like a PJ Brown or Chucky Atkins. But I would not trade away my pet V-SPan, or Novak, or Snyder....those guys are going to be rotation players. DD
Ok the trade works, but if the nets are going to tank they arn't gonna take long term deals of Juwan and Rafer when they can easily get all that cap relief and probably a draft pick from another team. I think the lakers have a better shot at landing kidd.[/QUOTE] Jacquescas I was just thinking that maybe NJ wants some production back in return while saving 9-10 million per year.. and Please no Lakers if they actually aquired Kidd while still retaining Odom and Obviously Kobe I would have to say with 100% they will be better than us and that is with a Healthy Yao and T-mac...By the way here is the link to my trade scenario Link to Houston and New Jersey Scenario Trade: Nets and Rockets Trade
Sura or the trade exception. Chucky Atkins or another backup PG should be their target. DO NOT trade Bonzi! With the Spurs struggling and the Jazz surging, it's quite possible we face San Antonio in Round 1. We'll need Bonzi in that scenario. He owns that team.
I dont think Bonzi owns them as much as the matchups turned out that way and they spent more effort covering Artest leaving Bonzi open to do his thing, which wasn't enough to win the series. (to own a team you have to beat them)
I voted for Sura and TE. I hope they can use the TE to get Chucky Atkins and with Sura try and get a good backup C/PF
Per Jump Shooter: "I think this team needs a 6'10+ athletic guy who can flip betweem the 4 and 5. All he would have to do is play defense, rebound, block shots and bring some energy." Exactly-bring on Eddie Griffin for pro rated salary. The T-Wolves may cut him anyway. Keep Bonzi- he is playing for a contract and will be valuable in playoffs when he is in shape. Do not mess with chemistry - use the trade Ex by 2-15 or trade Sura's contract!!!!!
Here is something i just thought. Are we showcasing Snyder? He has only played 17 games this season and in only 7 of those games has he played more than 18 minutes. 5 of them were in the first 10 games of the season. the last 2 came in our last 2 games. (where he averged 10 points 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks on 50% shooting. He really hasn't been part of our success lately so might we be showcasing him in the last few days before the deadline to maybe get someone in a position that we have greater need in? backup pg, pf/c???
Jason Kidd for Rafer, Sura's contract, and Bonzi. Bonzi is never going to get into shape or play D like JVG demands. Jkidd at the point equals Western Conf final.
Kidd for Rafer Sura and Bonzi for starters doesn't work under the cap, so its right out, not to mention how drunk you'd have to get the front office in NJ to approve the deal, maybe you could convince them it was NBA live or 2K
I take second option. I would switch out Novak for JL3. If it meant getting a better starting 1 or 4. I doubt it happens though. Hopefully we at least get something for the TE.
chemistry or not, if a great deal comes along then i'm not going to turn it down because i refuse to move novak or billy. however, realistically i don't see such a deal being offered at this time. there would be more talk about it if it were so. instead they are trying to use the TE and maybe sura at the deadline. either option would add a player without getting rid of any of our guys. if we can find a good PG or a big then i say do it.
Sura, Padgett, and Bonzi for QRich and Cato with NY agreeing to Steve Francis buyout and Francis signing a minimum deal here.
*Barf. Talk about a sure-fire way to disrupt the team chemistry. I don't mind trading the three you mention, but do it for one player with a clearly-defined role who can either score or rebound.
I'd like to see us get some frontcourt help. A big body who can score and rebound and provide a presence. I think Wells is the most expendable because Snyder could easily take his minutes. We could also use a backup PG, and I would consider shipping Sura's contract to somebody for some remote ballhandler who can run an offense for 10-15 minutes per. I really would like to see Duhon as our backup. I think a PJ Brown/Duhon for Wells/Sura would work in our favor. I really doubt Bonzi re-signs with us anyway.
23 points and 12 rebounds as a 2 guard in a six game series against the best defense in basketball is nothing short of owning a team. Even Robert Horry and Michael Finley admitted that Bonzi was a terrible matchup for the Spurs.
Just for fun, here are the players we could theoretically get by trading Padgett and Sura (combined salary of approximately $4.5 million). This is assuming we would just want to do a 2 for 1 deal. - Zaza Pachulia - Brevin Knight - Emeka Okafor - Damon Jones - Reggie Evans - Eduardo Najera - Sarunas Jasikevicius - Shaun Livingston - Chris Mihm - Damon Stoudamire - Andrew Bogut - Trenton Hassel - Marc Jackson - Carlos Arroyo - Dwight Howard - Kyle Korver - Raja Bell - LaMarcus Aldridge - John Salmons - Eric Williams - Andrea Bargnani - Anthony Parker - Morris Peterson - Gordon Giricek - Brendan Haywood
Bonzi does own the Spurs. Snyder is young, talented, and finally healthy enough to show what he can do. If we want to make a run deep into the playoffs, we need both of them playing. As far as I'm concerned, if we could package Sura, the TE, or a combo of scrubs for someone that will actaully contribute a bit at the 4/5, then that's what we should be doing. If there are no big men available, then we should be looking at guys like Chucky Atkins. No reason to trade Bonzi or Snyder. Their best ball has yet to be played. We can't land a new player that is half as talented or half as clutch as Bonzi (althought half as lazy might be possible). As far as I'm concerned, Snyder is part of our youth movement, and should not be traded.
I feel confident team chemistry can survive a minor trade. I think the return of Yao will be more disruptive to chemistry than trading a bench warmer.
