Kobe wanted to be the man and wanted some help, nothing wrong with that. And he proved he could be the man. It's not like Luke Waton was Cavs' third best player. If anything, Cavs had spent every penny they could spend, and as a player, you don't cry for help if you've topped in regular season 2 years in a row.

Notice the difference in the way they did it. Kobe did the same way that all free agents from Timmy D to Grant hill did things, he sat down, interviewed teams ,and made a decision, He didn't hype it up for 2 years ('July 1st everyone mark yo' calenders to big day in nba history'~lebron james), he didn't get a primetime tv special for 2 years, he didn't throw his teammates under the bus for talking about it for 2 years straight which questins his commitment to the current year and the current game, he didn't tease everyone by wearing other cities shirts and just making this not about basketball. Kobe bryant's decision along with timmy d's and all the other free agents, jason kidd whoever oyu think of, it was about hoops and the city. Lebron's was about attention, lebron's approach to this was more like kim kardashian or Lindsay lohan.

Kobe had a jersey change, eh did it, so on. Lebron did it and then he lied and treated the fans as stupid by saying it was for respect for MJ? REally, he said it was because he was a student of teh game, so sure enough he changes it to number 6 which happens to be the number of bill russel who is also arguably one of the greatest to play the game, some student of the history of the game, he is a marketing joke, and has espn in his pocket, hence why they gave him a primetime spot and right articles like the one you site that tries to level and justify everything this kid they call the king(a king who hasn't won in his own sport, yet he is a king right?)

ugh you are the biggest lakers homer on this board that i know of and i hate doing this but

kobe had his fair share of drama in 2006 (07?) when he was a free agent but most of the time his reasoning was for the team to get better which is hard to argue against. If anyone he had to reshape his image (after colorado) but he was more concerned with winning. Yeah he made not so private demands to trade bynum for kidd but kidd was an all-star PG and bynum sucked (and bynum still isnt very good imo probably one of the most overrated players in the league, but better than what he was a few years ago)

the lakers were playing for 2010 themselves which pissed kobe off considering he would be playing some of his prime years for nothing up until Gasol and Fisher just fell into their laps for nothing outside of future assets or giving up their worst player (brown)

kobe did nothing like what lebron, wade and bosh have done in the past week there is nothing that any of those 3 players have said which relates to winning all of them are just in it for the money and branding themselves.

kobe didnt have to because the lakers got lucky in the gasol and fisher deals, but i could easily see him taking less $ if it meant getting a all-star on the team. the guy just cares about rings on his fingers he already knows he has more money he can spend.

its a bit sickening to see all of this i really hope no nba fan has to go through this type of drama queenish free agency summer again

Mr. Clutch will not watch this season of the Bachelorette.

I mean, really, who gives a crap?

What ARE you watching, Stan? 30 minute meals? Cupcake wars? Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations? No one cares.
