- finally a little bit of time to respond... 1st off let me say that none of us really played our best game but we were still in control of the game, even with the refs calls. For whats it worth, Kerry said this is the best she has seen us play as a team...and also that she could tell that there was some chemistry between all of us. After thinking about it for a bit, I think the fact that Josh, Clutch, and Adam have played together before helped. Not only does Adam makes us a better team but the 3 of yalls chemistry I think gets contagious, if that makes since. Anyways, again, I dont think anyone had close to their best games. Stack, Clutch, (and Id like to say myself) all missed shots we usually hit. Add just some of those baskets and this game is completely different. None the less, we still had a win wrapped up. I agree with refs screwed us on this one (very inconsistent) but the other team was clearly the more aggresive team looking back for most of the night. I think, as a team, we tend to rely on the outside shot too much. Not too brag too much, but I felt like I penetrated when I came in but I couldn't finish. Talking about myself, I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE for missing those freethrows. With all the bull I still could of clinched the game not once, but twice. The pressure or the trash talking didnt get to me at all but I think that the fact that I was tired caused the shot to be flat. I had no legs....but no excuses I need to hit those. And I cant wait to see these stats to see how many shots I had to only go 0-fer (0-7?). Anyone like reading the recaps? I can get my comp fixed and the website active again if anyone wants it. Look forward to Thursday at the apt...and of course to the game on Monday.
Agreed. Speaking of stats and video, I hope to have stats up tonight and I'll probably cut a quick horrible reffing video. Then I'll get to work on the highlights, but it will probably be a little bit on those, especially since I'll be out the next two nights for the draft party and for apartment ball.
I hope you can put in there the number of fouls that fool in the green had...granted he didn't give Yao all the fouls he got or he would foul out..maybe he is just that way with players or maybe it was payback for me calling him out and the ref actually agreeing with me and telling him to pay attention.
OK, here is the recap. FOUL PLAY! (6.26.06 • Opponent: Scottford Homes) The letter C. Commitment. Courage. Crazy. All words that can best Characterize this season's Bus Stop Stalkers and their decision to return to (what can only be described as) the Crime scene. Yes, you got it, the C League. In this season, the third installment of the team, the Bus Stop Stalkers have decided to play the role of the horny teenagers at Camp Crystal Lake. You know, the Cocky Chidren that tossed history of past mass murders aside just for the sake of fun and to only be slaughtered themselves by the immortal Jason Voorhees. Only, this time, the Stalkers plan on learning from past mistakes. "We thought we were better than that," last season's team captain and best cheerleader, BiggieStuff demanded. "There is no way we should have lost by that many points! 20 (points) or 30, but certainly not 40!" After a dominating performance last season in the D League, the team has embarked on a steep trek up to the next level and back full circle from which the team was born. "We want to another shot. We want to see if we really can play with those guys," stated Stack. "And hell, if it doesn't work out, oh well. I still have a successful business to fall back on." THE START OF THINGS TO COME With a passion to make a new name for themselves, the Stalkers flew out of the gate in game 1 versus Scottford Homes on Monday night. With crisp passing and steady teamwork, the team jumped out to an early double-digit lead and Cruised to a Comfortable half time advantage. But, as they say, a lot of times it's a tale of two halves and this was no different. Scottford quickly applied pressure in the second half on both sides of the court, hustling their way back into the game and within 4 points of the lead. The Stalkers though would not back down and held off the oncoming rallies through most of the half. But, a shooting slump and questionable calls from the officials couldn't stave off Scottford's last late push which found the Stalkers Clinging to a 2-point lead with 5 seconds to play and the opposition with the ball out of bounds. And, as the five crazed Scottford fans (including parents and annoying little girlfriends with homemade signs) got on their feet, pressure mounted. A strong drive to the basket, a hell of a block by YaoWink to save the game only led to frustration, distraught, and Chagrin. For the whistle blew a phantom foul, and two resulting made free throws, dragged the Stalkers from the brink of a C League Celebration to the Choke hold of overtime, a resulting 4-point loss, and which led this journalist to blurt out one final C-word to describe the last play in regulation, "Utter CRAP!!!" "It was a bad call, all right! I mean, it was a horrible, terrible foul call! A rotten, sh** filled piece of crap call that f***ing ref never should have f***ing called, that piece of sh**, mother-f***er!!" exclaimed RusHour after the loss. "We still had chances to win and should have won. Hell, I had two free-throws to ice it and missed them horribly! Hey, is my hair OK?" So, the Stalkers remain winless in the C League and they will surely be haunted by coming so close to pulling one out. But, they showed enough heart, desire and teamwork to prove that they could be close to a win again some day. Chins up, Stalkers. Chins up!
GREAT STUFF!! Truly remarkable. I know i see atleast 2 wins this season for us or maybe better. Also how was the other team. Were they big in size? or quick with feet?

Anything not highlighted is considered acceptable. ***I gave YaoWink the GREEN on blocks (even though I had 2 as well) because we all know he got screwed out of at least one. I think we all know which one I'm talking about... Some interesting things I noted while taking down the stats... - We were called for 6 fouls in the first half. We were called for 13 in the second half + overtime. - We committed only 3 turnovers in the first half. We added another 11 in the second half + overtime. - In the first half we shot 15 two-pointers and 13 three-pointers. In the second half we shot 9 two-pointers and 15 three-pointers. As a group we definitely played a less aggressive second half on the offensive end, and starting settling for 3's too much. When a team puts on the pressure, we have to attack it. - I counted 6 called fouls on YaoWink, and 5 on Josh. I'm not sure if the limit in this league is 5 or 6, but if it's 5 we are lucky that both guys weren't removed from the game. - For all the bumping, pushing, elbowing, and pushing off, #15 (the guy in green) was called for only 2 fouls as far as I could tell. - None of the travels called on Adam were actually travels. However, I noticed 4 travels by the other team while taking stats (not looking for them in particular), and 2 of them were blatant. Stack had an obvious travel (changed pivot feet) that wasn't called, but that doesn't nearly make up for anything. - At one point in the game, one of the officials (the lighter skinned guy) was actually screwing around with his cell phone instead of watching the game. In summary, ----->
I guess we were playing on dead legs in the second half. The only reason that i can think for shooting a lot of 3s is that we had no movement or the Defense was just not letting any penetration. I think we should hold the ball more often when we have a good amount of lead. Let the ball move and let the Defense move with the ball. It really works. In my opinion, yall played an awesome game and i can't wait to get my first experience. I wonder what the score would have been if all the 3s went in for us. I guess if we want to play like PHX suns than we will have to keep shooting 3s and hope that they fall in, specially against teams like Brave Nuts and redemption since they got some big guys under the hoop.
We do have the shooters but when you guys are shooting horridly like that, You have to make plays towards the basket or start taking more mid-range jumpshots, otherwise you fall right into their gameplan. The idea of you HAVE to make your 3's isn't viable because that buys into scheme that it's the only play you have. Clutch needs to drive. I've seen Adam play and he needs to drive. Josh can drive. You have 3 penetrators on the team. Rush can too but in the C league he's not AS effective. Even in the D league we were getting 3 happy but we can shut down teams in the D league to make up for our shooting woes.
yea we shot ourselves for a loss that game...i know every single one of us realized that they were getting the calls and we werent, and we should of starting taking it in. They didnt have anyone to worry about downlow... but like I said we played a good game and we could of played alot better. While there was alot of good team play, there was still some confusion. Seemed like not enough movement and some people not knowing where to go and not knowing where others like the ball. This game put alot of confidence in us that we can compete this year better than year 1...it can only get better for us from here on. I say this because, while playing "our best game together" - Kerry, we still didnt make shots we usually do and after that everything else that could of been wrong falls into place. We make those shots and keep the D honest, the lane opens up (not like it was hard to get in anyways). Clutch, thanks for the stat taking and I think you added a little bit to my statline...but I wont complain It should look something like 0 pts, ? assists, 3? boards, ? TOs, 0 blks (0-4 from 2, 0-4 from 3, 0-2 from ft). Thats horribly sad and again I apologize. f*ck! the site is currently up already but just nothing new on it. ill need to get on it and update everything. i just noticed that a few links dont work properly as well...get it done asap but like clutch said, with draft night tonight and then apts thursday...it wont be until the weekend for me.
Can we please add that I played VERY SPARINGLY or maybe I played "BIGGIE MINUTES" next to my stat line? Otherwise, my numbers look U-G-L-Y!
A "W" is all that matters, but since we didn't get that maybe we should put 'BIGGIE MINUTES' next to it hehehe. Just put Activated Coach hahaha
Clutch...noticed you gave me 7 points which is right but only put me 1-1 from 2 should be 2 of 2...either way those are horrid numbers for me....I was feeling good as well before the game and hitting my shot then was completly off in the game....i didn't show up to play for sure...sorry about that guys.
is this a league that anyone can join? or is it too late? thanks wouldnt mind playing against some clutchfans memebers on the weekends or something
Gotcha. I just messed up when typing out the post. I've got you down on the stat sheet for 2-2. (goes back to edit) As far as the shooting woes, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Nobody, myself included, could have hit water if we were standing in a boat last night (except Adam, 2-4). I guess take into consideration that we haven't played together or in that particular gym for a while now and that's probably part of the problem. Personally, my shot had been feeling really good a couple of weeks ago and then out of nowhere my release started feeling funky so I tried tweaking it and I basically haven't found a solution yet. I see some glaring mistakes when I watch the video though, so I will spend the next week working hard to correct them. I guess the best way to handle 3's is to take what we're given early on in the game (don't think "I shouldn't be shooting this") and if they're going in then keep shooting. If after a few misses it doesn't feel like your day, change up your game and put the ball on the floor a little bit. I know I definitely should do that more. I also don't realize how far out I'm shooting from sometimes...I watch the video and it's basically NBA range, but it doesn't feel like it during the game. While I CAN hit from that far out, it's not going to be nearly as consistant. I should work on getting a step or two closer in.
By the way, how was the knee, mogrod? You didn't seem to be having any problems out there which is awesome.
