Thanks RRN and Sherlock. It is sad but I also noticed regression of both SF and Yao, this might related to their relationship with JVG. Usually I had the impression that Chinese responds to negative reinforcement well, but on the other hand, young generations may differ.
I have to thank you for that one . That made me laugh until I coughed. Maybe he should throw the shoes at them next time ! .
Did he buy them a book on running to go with the shoes and put a little personal note in each one too? SF YM Cato Cat JJ MT Pike The Rest
As long as the Rockets keep winning while Steve is having a career worst year and Yao is disappointing, Im on JVG's side. A lot of players around the league seem to want to play for JVG. The mentally tough ones do at least. If your butting heads with him, which means your not listening to him and doing what he says, then your an overpaid spoiled brat, and I dont want you on the team. All I know is Kelvin Cato, who was the least motivated and least discliplined player on the team before JVG got here, is now the most disciplined and most motivated player on the team with the help of JVG. That right there is pretty amazing if you think about it. that has me on Van Gundys side no matter what I hear.
Ritz Carlton? That is where NBA players stay at in Houston, when Houston had a Ritz Carlton. They call that place the St Regis now.
Im on JVG side to. Wouldnt u be mad to if your franchise player is been having turnover after turnover each game. I think last 3 games its been like 5 to, 5 to, and 7 to last one. And I am a yao fan but the guy dosent seem to motivated right now. He does need to yell at them.
How many coaches are from their players' generation? Most good players are in their mid-20's to early 30's. If true, I don't like the thought of JVG degrading players, but with the way Steve and Yao usually, play, they sure as hell deserve to be yelled at.
Not denying what Rocket Rich is saying, but he's already let it be known that he doesn't like JVG. And you're assuming that Yao and Mobley don't like JVG. Are you sure you're not just exaggerating? It could be a case where players are butting heads with coaches because they were suddenly thrust together? I get the feeling that if the players didn't like JVG that much they would run his system properly and this team would be under.-500. Instead, they're running JVG's defense perfectly, are playing hard and playing with fire.
Even before this thread, I was so ready to trade Steve. I just can't imagine him running our offense when the intensity is so high in the playoffs. Whenever he has those one or 2 good games per month, they seem so fragile. I'm sure Yao is used to this style of coaching since his early days in China. Very disciplined over there as I understand it. If Francis were the type of player who could carry us to the playoffs singlehandedly (like Jordan or Garnett) then we could afford to take his ****. But there are tons of people who can do what Francis has done over his career. I think this team would like absolutely amazing with a better version of Wilks runnign the point. Obviously, Wilks is not the asnwer, but maybe T.J. Ford could do it? T.J. Ford, Desmond Mason, and Toni Kukoc for Francis, Boki and a future pick? Anything. Let's just start winning. I miss the old days. I miss the veterans. I'm so darn sick of these kids we have worried abotu their image and playing time when 18-freaking-year old Lebron James is abusing the league as if he's been here 5 years already.
ROCKET RICH NYC, I respect your sources and what you have reported ... I believe you. But, what I'm not sure is accurate are your conclusions, such as stating they don't respect JVG. That, IMHO is a judgement, on your part, and potentially biased as has already been pointed out. You have previously dubbed yourself as president of the "I hate JVG fan club." The players on our team have gotten used to losing. They were led by a players coach, in Rudy, and they are soft. They aren't disciplined, or well-schooled. Of course they aren't going to like changing, becoming disciplined, and learning fundamentals. But, if they don't change, they'll never win a championship. Talent alone won't get them there. Of course, they will buck the new system. I'm sure that they will yell at each other, while they adjust, and that your report of that is correct. But, what else do you have as credible evidence that they don't respect each other? That is a whole other issue. I'm glad there is conflict, so change occurs, but if respect is not built in the process, well ...
I don't know RRNYC but he has always seemed to give fairly accurate info in the past. I don't think I would start claiming that he is just making stuff up just yet.
In any business, there are always coworkers who hate each other. But, they are professionals. They don't let their personal feelings get in the way of business.
Such as what? All I recall is posting the Moochie/Witherspoon deal shortly before it went out over the wire last week. Are there any other examples I should be aware of? All I remember is him bashing JVG repeatedly.
