Actually looking at Stackhouse's numbers his numbers were close to Mobley's until he went to Detroit. I know people can say nice stats but compare these, but Detroit doesn't have a PG, the team is built around Stackhouse because of it. I really wonder if Stackhouse would have 5.3 assist if he had the supporting cast the Rockets had and if he had a dominant PG. Francis does average about 7 assist per game.
I don't want Jackhouse. Gimme Cat, for the bargain price if nothing else. Getting that fugly dude over Mobes wouldn't push us over the top and he's gonna want max since he was dubbed the next Jordan neway. no thanks.
I just wanted to add that for some reason people forget that Rudy T has been running an Isolation offense and there just are not as many assists when the whole princable of the offense is to isolate Cat or Steve against one defender and let them go one on one.
I think you meant full time SG not PG. Anyways, I think stats can be deceiving. It depends so much on what team you play with, and what the coach is asking you to do. I just hope with more tallent around the Cat this season, he will be more of a team player and would not be asked to do too many isolations.
I already posted this on another thread, so I'm sorry I'm posting it again, but I think it is well-suited for this thread as well. I would like to read comments from other posters on it. I could have made a link, but I don't know how to. I also want to add that while I would prefer to keep Mobley, I don't think there is any point in saying that Mobley being younger is a reason. Stackhouse is only 10 months older than Mobley. I'm one of the most pro-Cat people on this board. I just love his game, and as such, I find it difficult to be very objective when it comes to criticising him. Also, I'm one of those who have always felt that Cat's low assists tally was not his fault, since the team really sucked last year. However, the opinion of many different people, both experts and non-experts, has been that this aspect of his game needs polishing up and, after reflecting more on this, I have to agree. The major reason I agree is Andre Miller. Now if any other team really sucked in the NBA last year, it was Cleveland. If not for Miller, that team would probably have been the worst team in the league. There is reason for me to believe that if Miller had had only half his number of assists - that would be about 5.5 - and instead had taken five more shots per game, Cleveland would have brought up the rear in the league. If Miller could rake up so many assists on a bad team, I see no reason why Mobley can't have at least a couple more per game. And, yeah, he's a shooting guard, but I'm sure he can do it if he puts his mind to it. Maybe his low number of assists also has to do with how Rudi T wants the Rockets to play, and I hope that changes this year. I would be very happy if Mobley could become an All-Star this coming season, and I'm sure if he could rake up 4-5 assists per game, that will surely happen. The Cat, any thoughts? Go Cat go!!!
i love the rockets. not players. mobley is rockets. francis is rockets. griffin is rockets. ming is rockets. i want this rockets team to win. i think i'd be much happier having our players reach the playoffs rather than some shaq and stackhouse in a rockets jersey winning the championship. i really do. olajuwon is rockets too but with another team.
Dear thumbs and Sofine81, Kids, kids, kids. Calm down. Fight about the things that matter. Wait till the season starts, THEN start bickering. SO SHUT UP . P.S. I'm the perfect one, not thumbs. At least I can speel........... ........Anyway, I think Mobley is better worth it; he's younger, fiercer, and doesn't have huge lips. BTW, hey COMPAQ CENTER, what will your new name be next year?
We made up lol, it was a misunderstanding. Now for the important stuff, The Basketabll stuff lol. Here is how see it, Cuttino Mobley Houston Rockets Position: G Height: 6-4 Weight: 210 College: Rhode Island '98 Player file | Team stats 2001-02 Statistics PPG 21.7 RPG 4.1 APG 2.5 SPG 1.47 BPG .50 FG% .438 FT% .850 3P% .395 MPG 42.1 And then there is Jerry Stackhouse Detroit Pistons Position: G-F Height: 6-6 Weight: 218 College: North Carolina '97 Player file | Team stats 2001-02 Statistics PPG 21.4 RPG 4.1 APG 5.3 SPG 1.01 BPG .49 FG% .397 FT% .858 3P% .287 MPG 35.3 So in essence I take Mobley!
Let's have Cuttino Mobley and Jerry Stackhouse trade names. So we would keep Cuttino, but would have a backcourt with the name of Steve Francis and Jerry Stackhouse. Steve and Stack.
People here have completely neglected defense. Stackhouse is considered a very strong defender. Mobley....has his moments, but he's not in Stackhouse's league in the regard. I think the Rockets are better off with Mobley for chemistry purposes...but talent wise, Stackhouse would be a clear choice over Mobley.
No one on the Pistons takes attention away from Stackhouse, while we have Francis. You can't be serious and say that a Francis/Stackhouse backourt is not beter than Francis/Mobley? Mobley's FG% would go down without Francis, while Stackhouse's would soar. You know what sucks though? Now, because of "Jordan's" trade, everyone will think Rip Hamilton is a lot better than he really is. After all, he's worth Stackhouse.
