I've noticed. The Spurs took mucho heat for that move from some on this board. How's Derek Anderson doing?

    crispee,

I can tell you're having a good old time, and that's great.

But, that 50% shooting category you have is just plain weak.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Hakeem would be on the list more, if his team actually considered him an important enough member to shoot more?

If Hakeem's having a bad game, they put in Keon Clark.

    Excellent and astute observation, haven.

This thread makes my Top 100 of the BBS look like one of the best threads ever. Why this thread has not been closed is beyond me.

However, since this thread will be around, it seems like until the end of time, do I dare say it?

    Free post everyone!!!!!

    haven & Manny Ramirez,

I've already covered the fact that Hakeem is elligible for this list approximately 75% of the time.

And, how would Hakeem shooting more automatically get him on the list more (although more would imply that he's already made it, which he hasn't)? Wouldn't he still have to shoot under 30% also?

Also, Manny, if you don't like this thread, then don't click on the title. Don't go trying to get it closed by getting people to just hammer it with "free posts". Very lame attempt to stop something you don't like.

Why don't you just wait for Olajuwon to make the list (like all the other Hakeem-bashers) and celebrate then?

I actually enjoy the thread. Sorta fun to see who's bricking it up.

But Hakeem just doesn't take that many shots when he's having a bad game. And he does shoot under 30% at times... just not enough to meet your specifications. hence, this is a gimmick. It doesn't prove anything at all.

Also, why does everyone have to be a blind Hakeem fan or a basher? Isn't there room for something in-between?

Everyone knows Smith can shoot when open and the Spurs generate among the most amount of open shots against mediocre-to-bad-teams (incendently, the Spurs are 0-3 against Sac and the Wolves and yet to pay the Lakers). But come playoff time, the better teams are not going to leave him open and the Spurs will need him to play more than 20 something minutes. Thus the test for him isn't now, but how well he holds up until and through May. They are being smart holding his minutes down when they can though.

I see our spot up shooter Bruce Bowen is shooting (UGH) 36% from the field, 35% from 3s (maybe not UGH, but still pretty bad), and (UGH) 46% from the line. Doing all this on the EASIEST team in the league to play for as a small forward (well, maybe them and the LAL tied). Many of us told you his offense was so pathetic as an NBA SF that he should not be starting for ANYONE.

We also see AD not starting, and the starting point guard (also one of the easiest teams to play for at that position), shooting less than 40% with nominal a/to ratio.

In sum, the Spurs will chew up bad to mediocre teams all season long with Duncan and a roster filled out with mostly specialists and single threat players, but come playoff time they will get spanked out of there again. Except this time the Kings or Wolves will do it in the 2nd round, saving the Spurs from being Lakers fodder in the WCF.

    How's Derek Anderson doing again?

The Spurs are better than they were last year, which means they didn't have a bad off-season.

    Now doesn't matter, playoffs matter.

Also, Smith is not providing the overal contribution DA was providing last year. It matters what they produce for the Spurs, not what DA does for the Blazers.

Last year the Spurs had the best record in the league, were in reality the second best team in the league, and got swept nonetheless. This year they do not have the best record in the league, are probably the 3rd best team in reality (I believe Sac is better), and have the Wolves nipping at their heels.

Looks to me they did not improve as much as their competition, so I wouldn't call it a "good offseason". The nice Parker pick may have helped them salvage a decent offseason, but they are farther away from the title this year than last--and I do believe a title is their lone goal.

I happen to think beating the elite teams (the Spurs are 0-3 at this) and having playoff success (we will see) will determine how the Spurs evaluate their offseason moves, not the degree they consistently beat crud.

Wow, Davis on there for a 7th time? I think Toronto is kinda regretting giving him so much momey to stay there (ditto on the rest), especially with Keon Clark in the wings. Then again, once Hakeem retires, he may be needed as a center again while Keon patrols the wings.

Seems as though Cliffy has come down from his fast start.

Watched the Magic-Jazz game...Hudson played better than his shooting there, as did Kirilenko. Hudson has played much better this year, or he'd be on there for the 20th time by now, lol. Kirilenko is a keeper...hopefully too much of the Jazz doesn't rub off on him.

Billups may be on here for awhile, as Brandon is down in Minny. Murray is on again, off again - but he's sure been more on than anything this year.

Another interesting stat, Hakeem is shooting exactly 50% from the FREE THROW LINE!

Also I see he missed last night's game with the dreaded "Swollen Toe On Left Foot"...how serious is this swollen toe on left foot?
