The Breweries in Oregon are pretty freaking awesome. If you can find it, get some Mirror Pond Pale Ale made by Deschutes Brewery. You will not find another beer that can even compete.
i know deschutes just recently started distributing to the whole foods flagship in austin... hopefully it makes it's way to houston. i've heard very good things about deschutes.
Picked up some yesterday...so good. I felt like I should be sitting fireside with it. Made me all warm and fuzzy. It had a bit of a citrusy taste. My favorite beer is still however. Tastes like a liquid raspberry warhead. Mmm...too bad it's $6 a bottle.
^actual size? "Why do they even make bottles this size? It's like here's a drink.. except its very far away."
For you hopheads, Victory's Hop Wallop is now available in Houston. The hoppiest hop that ever hopped. 8.5%. Excellent.
This thread makes me LOL, and apparently it makes some people BOL. Would like to second the mention of the Deschutes Brewery in Oregon. MP is stellar. Also like the Rogue Brewery up there. Max, I've never seen St. Arnold, but if I can find one here in Can'taffordia I will purchase and drink one. A Cali specific brewery I favor is the Anderson Brewery. And I should mention Lagunitas. Not sure if the beer snob crowd would like those or not.
Me too! I tried this last night after searching for it here in Austin and unfortunatley I didn't listen to the non Mad-Maxians. This beer is ****e! Maybe I got a bad batch, but it tastet like some ****e a first timer made in the sink w/ there home kit for Wal Mart. A$$! I'm not a beer snob either, but I was crazy dissappointed. Side note Shiner's Cheer is also not awesome, smells good though. Peaches and Pecans. Still better than St Arnold. I was really stoked about trying the lawmower too, but now...not so not so.
I found out that if you drink 12 of these and you're over 30, you pretty much can't get out of bed, eat, or keep your head from pounding for two and a half days. Pretty awesome.
The best special christmas brew that I have had this year is: St. Bernardus Christmas Ale, by St. Bernardus Brouwerij of Watou, Belgium http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/259/39286 Fairly widely distributed. Or order it online for around 10-12$ per .75L bottle.
