Swift was just doing what 95% of the big men in NBA would do under the same situation. Yao is just dumb to try to contest every single shot.
yup! 6'10 and that makes SS a legit 6'9 pf. yao is supposed to be 7'5 to 7'6 now and you can see how tall t-mac is standing next to him. You guys are right too, garnett didn't want to play at center because of his height.
Undersized or not, he has beening underachieving. It seems his only achievement is a dunk on Yao. Hopefully he lives up to his billing this time around.
he's already proven to be physically able to handle pf or center. as far as i know i've never seen his height mentioned as a negative to his game. he's got the jumping ability and wingspan to more than make up for it.
What makes that look even worse is White Chocolate is the guy taking a swipe at it, instead of Stro...ugh
Well, to be fair, though I didn't see that game or anything, it looks like maybe they both went after a rebound, cuz Stro appears to be still be landing from a jump while Yao is already starting to go up -- doesn't look to me like he had much chance.
2000 DRAFT 17. Seattle SuperSonics SF Desmond Mason, Okla. State 18. L.A. Clippers SG Quentin Richardson, DePaul 19. Charlotte Hornets PF Jamaal Magloire, Kentucky Wow these three picks were probably the best of the draft after Kenyon Martin. Look how low they went. Crappy draft allright. A little off topic sorry
personally, i think tmac is 6'9...everytime i see the guy next to 6'8 or 6'7 guys he looks a good inch taller than what his listed height is at. either everybody in the league is an inch shorter than listed or tmac's height is wrong. i think tmac is 6'9.
Everyone in the NBA exxagerates their height. You'd think these guys were porno stars or something the way they keep adding fake inches to their measurements
Every NBA player is listed with shoes on. Stromile is 6'8" bare feet and 6'9" with shoe. This is not a secret - in fact this is plenty a norm around the NBA. He is long though and well stuffed physically. Amare is about 6'8" or 6'8.5" without shoes as well. No biggie.
If I'm not mistaken, Hakeem was only about 6-10, and Barkley wasn't quite 6-5. Dennis Rodman was listed as 6-8 (I think) but was probably more like 6-7, yet how many times did he lead the league in rebounds? I also remember him being somewhat effective defending Shaq, of all people, for short periods of time.
I'm from Vancouver and I recall a few quotes from the local newspapers here and remember reading a few articles from New Jersey papers. Both sources said that K-Mart was 6'8 3/4 without shoes and Stromile was 6'9 1/4 without shoes. The New Jersey paper was upset that Marcus Fizer was listed at 6'8 (due to the shoes) and argued that K-Mart and Stro should be listed at 6'10. As well, I remember reading from Chicago pre-draft measurements that Amare was 6'8 1/2, hence he's basically KMart's height. I also read that Slam article that people were talking about and Garnett/Duncan said that Tmac is 6'10. During a late-season/or playoff 2005 Houston game (forget the name of the CBS announcer), the announcers basically said Tmac is 6'10. And one final note, Shareef Abdur-Rahim is listed at 6'9, and from what I saw, Stro is taller than Shareef.
T-mac was 6-8 the last time he was measured which was when he just turned 18 years old. Do ya'll honestly think that he as done growing? T-mac is at least 6-9 and probably 6-10 with shoes. You have to remember that David Robinson grew 6 inches after he went to the Naval Academy. edit: Didn't see macfan's post
Google found this.. 2000 NBA Pre-Draft Camp Measurements Stromile Swift Height without shoes 6' 9½" Height with shoes 6' 10½" Wingspan 7' 2½" http://www.***********/nba/draft2000/chicago2.PDF
So they do not measure these guys after the draft? I thought physicals are done every year including weight and height measurement? Hmmmm..
