I would be interested in reading your thesis.

I know with the Irish conflict that it was also sustianed by the diaspora. Much of the IRA's funding came from the Irish community in the US and places like the Bay Area where hot beds of IRA sympathy.

On a related note I've heard one of the difficulties with making peace between the Middle East is that much of the Israeli Right and orthodox are people who came from the US.

Isn't that the deal for things like Climate Change?

Some folks here are reflexively defensive when sacred cows are questioned, but we totally need clearer guidance and numbers on feasible transitioning, lest we get another Europe situation where they boast of being greener than us while fudging their green numbers and are one winter away from freezing their nuts (figurative and literal).

How so? There hasn't been any proposal in terms of climate change that would have immediate drastic economic impact. In fact, we are going the opposite direction in many way.

Those are soft goals - the whole Paris Climate agreement is non-binding.

I watched that and ate some of those dishes while in Sri Lanka. I remember people eat string hoppers for breakfast with curry and you could also get them as a roadsnide snack with palm sugar.

Yes most of the climate change agreements have little to no teeth to them. This is one of the big problems we are facing.

Yes there is a big cost to transitioning to new technologies to address climate change but given increasing droughts, wildfires, and flooding there is likely a far larger cost to doing nothing.

right, and you specifically used the term "proposal":

There hasn't been any proposal in terms of climate change that would have immediate drastic economic impact.

Are you asking me to explain the difference between setting a goal and making a proposal on how to accomplish that goal?

Alright, well, I just don't see why people freak out when politicians say they want a state to be all electric. The US isn't Sri Lanka, it's not a state controlled economy.

you'd have to ask people in California, Washington, and elsewhere who like their gas cars

Ok let's look at CA, which wants to move to all EV sales by 2035. Do you think that is bad?

not necessarily. People can go to Las Vegas to buy cars. It will be a boon for Nevada car dealers

The usual nonsensical post. “Green energy is a deadlier virus than Covid!” The Netherlands, mentioned here, is the 2nd largest exporter of agricultural products in the world. Tiny Netherlands! Yet they are lumped in with Sri Lanka and Ghana, themselves much different from each other, presumably in a effort to attack the usual pu pu platter of things the far-right enjoys going after, ignoring context and employing the typical gross exaggeration.

The Dutch, in their usual practical way, will sort out the nitrogen issue with their highly productive farmers, and the cows will go home.

You watch far too much Tucker Carlson, Ensign.
