again, IF we can find a clear upgrade to Skip then by all means go for it, but what is that going to cost us, and who is even going to be on the market? You aren't likely to get a Deron Williams/Chris Paul/Tony Parker level player without trading Yao or Tmac. There aren't too many non all star PG's that are big upgrades to Alston, considering what you would probably have to give up to aquire them. I'd be all for Calderon, but I don't see Toronto letting him go. Bottom line is most non all star PG's are roughly equal to Rafer, or slight upgrades at best that would be expensive to aquire.

Yepper! This is the hand they've dealt themselves which is why I say that Morey will need time and a whole lotta of luck to find a way out of this box that in which they now find themselves.

You're right. That's why I wrote it will be the toughest thing to do. I was trying to point out that eventually he needs to be replaced. No one will give us Calderon or anyone better than him.I do want to keep Skip, despite all his inconsistencies he is the only PG who can start for us.

I hope you guys realise we are the only team in the league with a starting back court that averages 6 assist per player. The system is designed like that, we don't really need a pure point like Nash or Kidd. Chris Paul I would take but Nash and Kidd I wouldn't know given their price. Thats why I consider someone like Devin Harris ideal, his fast enough to keep us competitive with the other PG's of this world and also be able to penetrate relatively well.

It's going to be very, very tough to acquire an upgrade to Alston via trade. They're going to need some luck. Hopefully Brooks develops into a real threat or Francis regains some of his old form and a new dedication to distributing the ball.

Tmac makes Hayes better because of the attention that he draws. Rafer doesn't draw but one defender to him, so Hayes would not be left open.
Tmac IS a better playmaker though, but it's not all attributed to pass ability.

guh...im sorry to burst anyone's bubble but don't count on this team ever winning a championship with rafer as a starter, this is the only point in his career he has ever been a starter. He is streaky, but we need someone who is consistent. He would be TERRIFIC coming of the bench

People can praise rafer and his x factorness, but he should be a better shooter with the clean looks he's given. His inconsistent play is the reason why the rox are in th state they're in. I would just throw Brooks in and back him up with Dooling, Arroyo or Dixon. Rafer doesn't bring any special qualities to the table. I'm really tired of stop gaps. Its time get a player with a high ceiling like brooks in and let it rip.

We know the rox have been trying these spot up,space the court types, when they should highlight the strengths. If the rox use brooks and let him play, the game will be easier and the rox more explosive. Like I've always say, the spurs don't worry about parkers lack of 3pt shooting or size. When a guy with brooks speed and quickness get to the ft line off the dribble, he has just broke down the defense. Once he gets his dribble pull up from 16 ft down, he will be impossible to stay in front of.

i guess some people fell to realize that when rafer plays we are a one of the best teams.. compared to when he dosent play, we just suck.

just imagine if rafer would have started game one.

rafer is perfectly fine running the offense, an upgrade wouldn't hurt though

Rafe is fine... Rockets have bigger needs to worry about (backup wingman, staying healthy)...

mike miller is the obvious target. the grizz need to dump salary, the rockets have expirings...

matt barnes is a possibility as well as james jones...

im sure the plan is to make this upgrade via trade rather than FA signing (which would bring us dangerously close to the LT).

If Rafer can work on his shooting, and tweak it a tiny bit (both the 3pt and floater need work), then he will be pretty effective.

The whole team seriously needs to work on their FT's. Horrible work in the Utah series.

I wouldn't say good but really not bad. Only if we can have him for game 1/2 and 6.....

Who can be better? Yea, I love CP, DW, SN, TP...... or CB but......

I am serious! If the spurs lose to the hornets, they probably will rebuild.

Manu himself said that he wants to play for Houston if he couldn't play for SA someday. You can go to his website to check his blogs.

I can see Manu saying that because of Scola. All the same, San Antonio is just in reload mode until Tim retires. That's when the rebuilding begins.
