His value is about as useless as any trade on the surface would present itself, but if it was worth to pull the plug, then it was worth the trade evidently.

I think most people including the Spurs thought he was going to take this summer off... The Spurs were willing to immediately extend his contract if he had chose not to play at the Olympics.

I don't know how Manu will fit on a team that already have Martin, Ariza, Battier, and Budinger under contract on the wings, but if he's attainable at a reasonable price, I'd take him and figure out what to do with the other wings later (we can always trade one or more of them).

Manu may be older now, but he's definitely a MILF-type that Morey would appreciate.

Yes, I think Morey wants to make Manu come to the Rockets.

Unless they make some kind of remarkable comeback and go deep into the playoffs, does letting Manu go really seem so unlikely? Its time to rebuild in San Antonio. Duncan SHOULD retire as a Spur, but this is a business. They can't repeat the Olajuwon retiring a Raptor thing.

On a second note, I do NOT want Manu on this team unless he wants to sign for league minimum to potentially play with Scola. That is the last position we could use an upgrade. There is already a log jam.

There really isn't a log jam at the Shooting Guard position. Outside of Martin, who is really a true SG?

Brooks can play the guard position, but is undersized for that, and thus should stick to playing PG.

Budinger can play the SG position but is better suited as a small foward.

Ariza, we all know, can't play SG to save his life! He was atrocious at that position and should be a full time Small Foward.

That leaves Battier as the the odd man out and I think should get rid of him in the offseason and either trade him to a contender or buy out the remainder of his contract.

Before the McGrady-Martin trade, Gersson identified two areas, the Rockets could do with an upgrade. A playmaking wing and a PF/C.

After bringing in K-mart, why would we need him?

    Yao / Hayes / Andersen
    Scola / Hill / Jeffries
    Battier / Ariza/ Buddinger
    Martin / Ginobili /Taylor
    Brooks / Lowry

Well, I guess he would be a good 6th man.

    Yao
    Scola
    Battier
    Martin
    Brooks

    Ginobili
    Ariza
    Lowry
    Buddinger
    Hayes
    Andersen

It doesn't look like there are enough minutes to go around at the wing positions. If the Rockets can sign him for something like 3 years, $19.5 million then I think he would be worth it.
