Spurs Waive Romain Sato

    SAN ANTONIO � The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have placed guard Mike Wilks on the injured list with left patella tendinitis. Wilks has appeared in 31 games averaging 1.2 points, 0.5 assists and 0.3 rebounds in 3.7 minutes per game.

    At the same time the Spurs waived guard Romain Sato. Sato, selected by the Spurs in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2004 NBA Draft, has spent all 54 games of the season on the injured list with left patella tendinitis.

    Spurs coach Gregg Popovich will be speaking to the media about today's developments later this evening. We will keep you posted.

    this guy was a great player in college. he has all the tools needed to be a solid player in this league. i think he's going to land with some other team and make it as a player.

    Sato could be worse that Bowen.

    Sato is imho a great potential from the little I saw of him in college. He is an immigrant that started playing basketball late so basically he is sill raw.

    He is a well cut and strong 6-5 F/G with a great wing span. Yeah I know it will be kinda mean spirited to waive Ryan Bowen for him but you got to do what you got to do. The Spurs are praying that no one pick him up so that they can get him back.

    I thought after his gutty performance at the Big Dance this kid would have a solid NBA career as a 6th or 7th man; a high energy, defensive stopper type.

    From what I saw he is one tough motivated dude.

    I still believe he will be a solid pro - just a matter of time.

    put me on the list of believers after watching him in college. i thought he would be a good/serviciable nba player.
