Duncan 3/12 from the free throw line... The Spurs team went 11-23 on the line whick sucks since they only lost by 5 points! Man they really should have swept the Suns, they could have really used the rest.
And if it was someone else like say Jon Barry in that position trying to take the charge and it was Bobby Sura who flopped (or thrown down by Stoudmire) we would blame the game on the refs and call it the worst officiated game in the history of the NBA. For the person that just called me a spurs fan. I have never been or never will be a spurs fan. Rockets fan forever. But I just dont understand what you guys have against Manu. Hes a good player. And San Antonio fans are not as obnoxious as Dallas fans so dont see the hate there either.
This game is proof positive that flopping has really taken the league by storm and is now an integral part of certain teams'/players' (hint hint) play strategy. The league really needs to address this in the offseason.
Give Suns credit, they really picked up their defense in the third. right, that block on the end was just great. I have to admit, Amare is better than Yao now, especially his energy and intensity level. I hope Yao is watching the game, and feel the pressure, try everything to get better, both his physical game and mental preparation. In their rookie year, people could argue either way who deserved the ROY, but this year, Amare is hands down the better player.
Agree. I blame the league to start this whole mess. NBA is the only place you can actually "draw fouls". Those whole "throwing-my-body-into-you" garbage is rewarded here. I thought the purpose of the game is to put the ball into the basket and stop the opponents doing so. A 3 year old kid could tell that a shot with contact is more difficult than one without, so the whole purpose of "seeking contact" is to cry out for the refs to bail out. Why the hell would anyone with any rationale actually bail them out? Does anyone of you ever see anywhere that people smashing into others' bodies actually get rewarded? Isn't sports supposed to be compitition and fairplay? Oh, no, wait, fairplay is advovated in Olympics, never heard that once in NBA. NBA is about profit and star power. I wouldn't blame the coach or players for flopping, they try to take advantage of the rules, so does everyone. But the rules suck, big time!
if that was the case, then every dunk would have to be called offensive goaltending for having your hand on the ball over the cylinder. so as long as they still have it in their hand it's free game for a block.
Well if Duncan didn't have the best FT stretch of his life or if the Spurs weren't unconcious from 3 land in the 1st 2 games the series would be 2-2 or 3-1 Suns. Given only 1 game (game 3) had one team ahead the whole way, given breaks evening out the series should be 3-1 Spurs or 2-2--all in all you can't say the Suns haven't gotten more breaks. Probably just a blip on the road for the Spurs until the WC finals as the Suns defense will catch up to them, but at least the Suns showed some heart and showed they belonged. The Heat or Pistons will be much tougher for the Spurs because those teams play great help defense and will not allow all these Spurs lay ups.
I've yet to see Wade flopping all over the floor ala Manu. I like Manu's game on offense, and he's a hard nosed defensive player, but the artificial flopping (learned at an early age on the soccer fields?) is downright annoying.
Ginobili is officially my personally most despised player in the NBA. He puts Amare in a bear hug, flops like a wet mackerel after Amare basically raises his elbows up, and a double technical is called. That should have been a non call...
Manu is a great player. He's smart and takes advantage of opportunities. So he flops at times, so what. He's a fearless player, Seattle and Denver tried to kill him but he never stopped coming to the basket. Give him respect.
They should come up with a best actor award for the NBA and Manu should win hands down. Do some research on the Spurs with this BBS and you should be able to find the answer.
Stockton would set picks and then flop. He would grab, kick, trip on defense. He would throw elbows on offense. But he would do all this in the midst of at least attempting to make legit basketball plays. Ginobli, and Nitwitzki to a lesser degree, are consistently using possessions with the sole objective of just trying to get calls off the refs. Forcing contact on drives and then falling to the floor with spastic seizures appears to be a whole new level of flopping that even Stockton was above.
Manu is way too out of control. I used to like him but he just keeps getting on my nerves more and more everytime I see him play. Ive never seen anyone get bailed out the way that he does. Since when was he a veteran that deserves every call?? He will run into a group of people and have no shot and just throw it up and get the call and if he doesnt then he whines like a girl like he deserved a call. Dont get me wrong, he is very talented but he is way too cheap and it just sucks that there is nothing that can be done about it. I wish Amare would just take him down one time hard and just give him some sort of warning because he needs it.
Playing with your hair and flopping - the two go together. Nitwitzki and Ginobli play with their hair more than any players in the game and they are the two biggest floppers in the game. So that tells me this: If you got pretty hair and play with it then you're probably gonna flop like a p***y. So the refs should take that into account and say 'hey, that guy over there is playing with his hair an awful lot so we better be cautious with him and watch out for his flopping'
