They tanked the season to get Tim Duncan.

    Period.

Not taking anything away from Pop because I think he is waaay underrated. But c'mon. They benefited from the fact that they added a #1 pick to basically a playoff contending team.

Its kinda like what happened with the Lakers when they got Magic. Except the Lakers didn't tank.

In a fair world, Duncan should have been a Celtic.

I wanna see what "the best organization" does when they are truly one of the worst teams in the league.

BTW - they never won back to back titles.

Clutchcity is the only team in Texas to hold that distinction.

I'd rather win 4 titles in 8 years than 2 titles in 8 years, and you wouldn't?

Look the OP said this is the "best organization".

In my opinion, especially in basketball, to prove dominance you have to at least repeat.

The Lakers have won the same amount of rings in the same +10 years. If LA wins this year they will have more rings than the Spurs and would have repeated in two different time periods.

Looking at it that way, I dont think most people are regarding the Spurs as "the best organization" in basketball.

It's known as The Association, not The League.

Jazz, Spurs, Lakers are the three best organizations in regards to management, history, and consistency.

I would put the Rockets and Celtics just below those three. The Pistons, Bulls, and Knicks have fallen far from their glory days.

The same can be said for most organizations that won a championship, including the 1990's Rockets and Bulls (minus the "luck" of needing the lottery). They were lucky enough to have top picks in years that HOFers were available. If the Rockets win one with Yao, it will be the same. Same with Cleveland and Orlando.

The fact is, lots of organizations get superstar #1 picks - they still have to make a bunch of moves to put together a team around them.

That's the problem with these Threads and this site; everybody is to uptight when you don't agree with their opinions.. Why would I root for the Spurs, Mavs or Jazz aren't these 3 teams our ultimate enemies ?? Rockets fans are SOFT, the rockets are out of the playoffs and they have to find a team to root for... If I had to root for a team it would be the Nuggets and only because of what George Carl is going through ( best wishes to him ) ... Stop kissing so much Spurs ass Houston fans; for you information they Hate Everything HOUSTON in san antonio so stop drooling over their success. The spurs shut it down for one year to get the top draft pick and they got lucky by landing Duncan; yes I admit they have a great GM, coach and in general they're a good organization but I'm not gonna go out of my way to kiss their butts like some people do here.. GO ROCKETS,, that's what this website is all about ROCKETS...

How can you lump in a team like the jazz you have never won a single thing with the 2 most dominant teams of the past decade?

they are the most consistent team in the past decade
in my opinion they are better than the Lakers
because they don't make noise and don't have Hollywood there is not much talk about them in the media, even if they win 3 more titles the headlines will be always like : Lebron James is going to NY, or Kobe is the MVP....!!
i'm a Rocket fan, but damn the Spurs are my second favorite team for this decade

Heck, what great moves have the Jazz done anyways? They sucked. Got high draft picks, drafted Stockton and Malone and ran the pick and roll 234098 times with them. Then they sucked again, got a high draft pick, drafted Deron and signed Boozer in free agency. Yeah, that's real genius.

    I hate the stadium.

Is it really that hard to build it near downtown? I mean the Alamodome was better in my opinion because it was close to downtown.

the Spurs arena is in the middle of nowhere .

    WTF...

I'm glad the Spers* beat the Mavs and all but they can go to hell as soon as they take out the Jazz and the Fakers.

    1) citation needed

    2) even if it was true, why would I care what other people think? I don't let other people make my decisions or opinions.

    3) hating other teams doesn't make you a better fan, nor does it make your own team any better.

Well at least the OP is better than the troll who claims to be a Rockets fan while bowing down to the freain' j*zz and Fakers like they are his mama.

Lots of organizations do NOT get Duncan-caliber players. Agreed about the Rockets and Bulls but again we're talking about once-in-a-lifetime players. "If the Rockets win one with Yao" will not be the same situation, and is extremely unlikely regardless.

This statement is definitely right. Honestly, when I read the title for the first time and the fact that it is on another team's forum, I would have to be defensive about it because in our minds, the Rockets is the best organization in the league. However, upon reading the OP's statements, I would have to agree on what he said. With all the aging players of the Spurs and the added firepower of the Mavs, I thought that the Mavs would win the series. To my surprise, when the game was down to the wire, the Spurs matured and the Mavs choked...the Mavs choked    .

With that being said, I agree that the Spurs have a great organization. Luckily, I am fortunate also to be a supporter of another great organization, the Houston Rockets. Although we did not make this year's playoffs, I still believe that we will make next year with the activities that will happen during the summer which will lead to our victory. I am just enjoying the show and also hoping that next year and also the subsequent years, we can root for the team that we all belong in. Let's go Rockets :)
