    DC,

The Sonics want to trade Payton. He wants a contract extension, and they won't give it to him. They could get some decent young players such as Tony Parker, Antonio Daniels, etc. from the Spurs in the process. I doubt if the trade happens though, because the Spurs don't want to give him an extension either...

That wasn't my point....My point was that how will the Spurs get worse IF they acquire Payton and Smith??

It would be either Payton OR Smith.

Smith would come in a sign and trade for DA.

Payton would come in a deal for Parker and
probably AD too, with the Spurs cap space
going to offset the balance of Payton's
    contract.

Of the two, Smith is more likely.

It was a response to your post about the Spurs being worse with Payton or not and Smith or not. I was assuming that you meant both.

Mr. Spur or should i say Pop, Holt, or J. Howard?
Now i know you are one of these people, because you are STILL trying to justify Tony Parker!! You must work for the Spurs or something...

Like i said before (and this will be the last time) i don't care how GREAT Tony Parker is...IF HE CAN'T PLAY 3, 4, OR 5 YOU DON'T NEED HIM. Can Iverson hold Cwebb? And Tony Parker can't either...the NEED was not at the 1.

If the Spurs drafted a 2,3,4,or 5 we would not be on this post talking about Bruce Bowen, Eddie Robinson, Steve Smith, and players like this to get for the job!! If you are the Spurs and you know that you are not going to re-sign AJ, Sean Elliot, cut Samaki, don't want to rely on Danny Ferry at the 3, and may not be able to sign DA and Dave both...

Why in hell do you chose Avery Johnson to replace with a 1st round draft pick? Tyronne Lue is the same kind of player that they COULD have traded Samaki to the Lakers for...

    Does this really make sense?

Now they have to find a 2 and 3 to replace the points of DA and Ferry/Elliot, and don't forget a back up 4/5 to replace Samaki or do you go with Scott or one of the 2nd round players to relieve Dave and Tim...NO, i forgot they have Malik Rose to play against Shaq and other true big men in the league.

People here are talking about players like Smith and Payton who are GOOD players, but why do you trade players to get OLDER!! When the Spurs win 45 games next season and not make the playoffs, will you believe than? Or will it take not signing ANY good free agents this off season to wake you up?

Oh yeah the quote talking about not signing the 2nd leading scorer on the team because he's greedy...it was a joke, but you still see the glass as 1/2 full i guess.

Stevie...what more can you say? You CAN'T prove me wrong, WON'T comment on the true statements that have come to pass, and still don't want to give me ANY credit for calling it like i see it. So you call me names and attack me again...that's why i called you a BUSTER!! It's so easy to have keyboard balls, right?

Spurs are dead now. Steve Smith is finished. He's 33 and his knees are completely shot. DA was perfect for that team and the stupid Spurs screwed it up by overpaying for soft Robinson-$10 MIL a year for a guy who's next big game in the playoffs will be his first.

And then they screw the league over by releasing Samaki Walker, who ends up in LA. Just what LA needs, a young talented PF to fill their greatest need now that Horace Grant is gone. Reminds me of that ridiculous trade the Spurs made, Will Perdue for Rodman, which all but GAVE the Bulls their 2nd 3-peat.

What's the deal with the Spurs HELPING out teams like Da Bulls and Lakers all the time??? Screw the Spurs.

-Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure. And the Rockets could trade some decent young players like Langhi and Cato for Shaquille O'Neal too, right?

Your comments haven't been dead on at all, they have been very inconsistent and brash. When have I called you names?? I described you as immature, childish, etc. from your buster, now what, game set match bs, which is ridiculous, yet hilarious. I think verse has been much more accurate with his posts. Your statements such as the Avery Johnson Jr., lottery team, DA wanting the max, the Spurs having 8 million in caproom, etc. were way off base. I still don't see why you are bragging. The offseason isn't nearly over yet. If the Spurs end up outside of top 3 in the West at the end of next year or don't make any other moves, I'll concede. But at this point, I still maintain that the Spurs are contenders.

    You know Stevie...
Verse and myself share ALOT of the same ideas and feelings about the Spurs, and it shows in the posts.

    What are YOU reading?

    Can you READ?

Alot of the time we follow each other on the posts!! So again is it that you just don't know how a person new to the board can say what i'm saying or are you just OFFENDED personally?

Either way i don't care (grow up), because again you will see how GOOD the Spurs are either this season or in 2 years. And you still a BUSTER!!

    Um, no.

I wasn't "justifying" Tony Parker, only pointing out the error of your ways.

AJ was not coming back. Thank God. I appreciate what he did for the franchise and he received his monetary reward last season, but he definitely did not make sense to bring back. Duncan didn't want him back and that was the bottomline. You won't hear Coward say that.

Why you are jumping on a late first round pick, the Lord only knows.

You are hilarious Mo [IMG], I won't go on with you anymore. Why won't you respond to any of my comments about your credibility? And yes I am astounded at how a newbie can be this ridiculous. I am reading all of your posts as are many other posters. Read some of the other responses to your posts and you will see what I am talking about. You and verse share a hatred of the Spurs, that's about it. His posts are better written, and are actually TRUE.
BTW, you're telling me to grow up? ROTFL! Why don't you go back and read all of your posts and see who needs to grow up.
