i questioned this rule after a lamond murray shot last season, but then this season they made all those improvements. still... i'd always thought that if there is like than 0.8 seconds left on the clock, there can't be enough time to get a jumper off.
wow. After Fisher hit that shot, I had a flash of post-traumatic stress disorder, with a flashback to 97, when Malone put the bearhug on Drexler and Stockton drilled the three. After Stockton hit that shot and my jaw dropped open, I didn't so much as twitch for about 15 minutes.
I actually noticed that too. I TIVOd it about 10 times in super slow mo and the clock didn't start until Fisher had already caught the ball and turned. At the very least, it would have been closer if they had started it right away. SA home clock operator (do they still let the home team's guy control the clock) should have been quicker on the trigger.
i never thought about it but how is that possible. .4 sec seems to short to catch the ball and then shoot. Did the clock not start right away or what.
Wow what a game. Probaly my favorite ending (non-rocket) since when Reggie pulled a miracle in the Garden. I was a little bit surprised that the officals didnt review the shot longer. I mean this game is huge, and I dont think they spent more than a minute reviewing it. But hopefully they got it right .
Nba sends their own guys to manage the clock i think for playoffs. Its a damn conspriacy now. Screw the lakers. Spurs should protest.
i think its the nba guys. Remember during the NJ and Ny series some dispute arose over the clock not starting right at the end of the 4th quarter. And they said its the nba guys mananging the clock during the playoffs. I could be wrong though.
FWIW they let a few tenths run off after Duncan's basket too, so it actually cancels it out in the end in that type of a situation as the reaction time thing cuts both ways.
I'm not buying any conspriacy if the league was fixing it for the lakers I doubt they would let it come down to the final seconds of the game. Really the refs have been calling good games in this series with the lakers and the previous one against our Rockets. I used to think "maybe" the league is fixing it but I havent see anything that would make me believe that so far this post season
I don't like the Lakers and I don't like the Kings, so I'm rooting for Minny from now on, stupid Spurs.....
Duncan's ball went through the bottom of the net with 0.8 to go. Lakers should have had 0.7 to work with, which makes Fisher's shot more legit. how appropriate that SamFisher makes this point.
I thought there was a rule against that being possible. Of course that rule is written in the "Law of Physics." This blows chunks. Spurs were robbed. Now Minnesota MUST win.
Theres actually two people that start the clock, a neutral nba official on the sidelines and the refs. The spurs did file a complaint that the clock didnt start fast enough, but thats just desparation. As Samfisher suggested the lakers will counter with that if the spurs want to get all technical about the clock. Im glad the lakers won, because the finals would be sooooo boring if spurs made it. I could imagine it now, game 7 of the nba finals the spurs win 54-53 against the pacers. I dont know how people outside SA fans can root for them, all they do is slow it down and execute in half court, not to mention their star is Mr Fundalmental himself.
That so reminded me of the OT loss by the Rockets. It seemed a sure win for the home team, and then all of a sudden your heart is riped from your chest.
I hate both teams. Having said that, what an amazing end to the game! Reminded me of Ralph's miracle shot in '86 that eliminated the Lakers (although he made a tougher shot). I just hope the Pups or the Queens face the East. That'll make me happy. (great game!)
