Spurs improve defensive efficiency by focusing less on defensive rebounding

    heypartner, forgive me for jumping in. I think you misread durvasa's point. He is not trying to say that there is a correlation between DRtg and DReb%. He is just saying that contesting shots is more important for defense than defensive rebounding.

    He isn't even advocating any defensive strategy. The point is, IF YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE between contesting a shot and getting into defensive rebounding position, you should choose the former. It doesn't say that you ALWAYS have to choose. But there are times when you have to choose. Hence the correlation is there but not absolute.
