When's the last time they won a championship? Sorry, but losing to the Grizzlies in the first round and not winning a championship since 2007 is their main problem. It's like the Patriots- they USED to be the championship-level team, but until they get past the Thunder and Clippers, I ain't buying it.

No they don't care about the Spurs. And Spurs return the apathy back.

(Still the league crammed "celebrity" BRUCE BOWEN and Sean Elliott down our throats for the Celebrity game, bleh)

I think the Spurs were in the national media a lot in the early 2000's when Duncan was the clear cut superstar of that team. Now, the talent is more evenly distributed and there isn't that one guy that you could argue (with a straight face) is the best player in the league. Tony Parker is good but he's no MVP.

These days the Spurs get it done with flawless execution on both ends of the court so there's no remarkable talent to market to the casual fans.

That's okay. Spurs are going to the Finals this year (to lose to the Heat). They will have to broadcast their games longer than all of the other teams.

You do know they swept the Clips last year, right?

By your metric are there only two contenders at any one time?

tony parker plays better than all points guards except maybe chris paul, and im not really sure right now. Manu is so crafty, he will leave you a highlight assist every night, he had 7 on 10 minutes the other day. They move the ball, leading the league in assists, and are 3rd on ppg. Why would peopple still call them boring? They are pretty exciting to me, playing the right way.

I can't stand the spurs but right now I think Tony Parker is the best PG in the league in regards to winning. He doesn't score the most points, he doesn't get the most assists, but he does what a championship point guard is supposed to do to the ultimate degree.

He's efficient, directs the offense, spreads the floor, makes shots that are given to him, and can create his own offense when needed. I would take Tony over Chris Paul any day because he produces what he produces without having to dominate the ball. He is like Mr. Intangibles with all-star tangibles.

    I can't believe 10 years ago, I thought Francis was better. I was a r****d.

no you are not, 10 years ago francis was better than tp :) Of course the way parker has been playing for the last 2 or 3 years, thats not even close, but 10 years ago you would be right.

    DAFUQ is this ****??

Y'all are giving any credence to this thread? This is a ROCKETS fan forum-albeit the overall NBA sub-forum. Still, I respect the Spurs but don't come whining on a Rockets forum about "Spurs disrespect" . Sucks they don't get more media love but oh well, tough ****.

I think this is may be tied to the the 2000-2004 period where the Spurs garnered the most national media attention. During that time they were a grind it out defensive team that really slowed the game down, which made for pretty boring entertainment for the casual fan.

Now even though they don't play that way, the image has stuck with them since that's what most people remember them as. Hence the the common reaction that "The Spurs are boring".

Yeah, I always thought Parker was kinda overrated until the last two years.

Hell he was being benched by Pop for George Hill in some situations 3 years back. It's crazy how good he is now.

Good. Tim Duncan and the floppers became very overplayed. Time for some new tunes.

i like watching the spurs, they play good team ball. i think anyone can appreciate that. watching ISO plays gets boring, the spurs have great team chemistry which makes them fun to watch IMO.

Spurs have always been disrespected no surprise. Too busy covering the Lakers dramas.

Point noted. I think the Spurs are great- but they've had the best record in the league 2 of the past 4 years, with nothing to show for it. I almost expect that, like the Jazz back in the day, their veterans don't have enough in the tank to make it through the playoff grind. And it's all about what you do in the playoffs.

ESPN has Cavs/Hornets this week and at least they don't shut down the rest of the NBA schedule like TNT does every Thursday. Can't blame ESPN for cherry-picking what they feel are the most popular games but I resent TNT's exclusivity.

Like it or not the spurs are the ONLY team that has a chance to beat Miami heat.

Grizzlies have a long shot too

Yeah, same here but he has shut me up pretty well within the last few years.

Spurs don't get love because the big names aren't big enough for the media heads. People keep waiting for Duncan to fall off and he refuses to do so.
