Damn, that place is a zoo!! I lost count of how many "*****s this" or "***** that" and the occasional "***** Scola". Spurs fans need to relax and lay off the caffeine.
We talking the same Battier who hit a 3, dove for a lose ball, then won the jump ball agaisnt Duncan when the Rockets were down 6?
They had tiago splitter waiting in europe and though he'd fit better also, then tiago decided to stay there and screwed up their plans. They probably would have kept scola stashed, but i've heard manu pleaded with them to let scola go rather than keeping him over there since scola's dream was to play in the NBA.
Well don't worry, The Grizz are like our development team. I wonder who we will be calling up next to our team? Marc Gasol, OJ Mayo, or Rudy Gay.
I think it's kind of pathetic that there are Rockets fans at Spurstalk acting that way. Bragging after a REGULAR SEASON win? Scola was a loss for the Spurs, sure, but they still have accomplished a lot recently. Now if Scola is a hero and we win the NBA finals, then that's something to bring up. You can't brag to the Spurs when you have nothing to show. It just doesn't make sense. It's like the Clippers making the WCF and laughing at LA Lakers, and calling them losers
No kidding. I'm no angel, but Spurstalk is practically unreadable with all of the swearing. We should all be grateful for what we have on this site!
"****, that was a frustrating game...especially with Scola getting his million rebounds. What kills me is Bonner+KT+Oberto = $11 million. Scola's getting $3 million. How does that even make talent or financial sense?" -> from random Spurs fan. Now that's ownage in the truest sense. At least the Lakers are paying through the roof for Gasol. Not only did we get the best player and locked him for a bargain basement price, we also made the Spur's plan backfire Don't forget the pick they paid OKC to get Thomas Spurs, tell me how Bonner, KT and Oberto's contracts taste lol.
That's a weird thread. Half the posts are from some idiot who call himself "Whottt, " or something similar, but at least one of the other folks there puts dancing boobs at the bottom of his posts. I'd call that a plus.
i guess some of you guys forgot the scola scenario. Spurs didn't have room for scola back then, and scola's euro club left a multiyear contract on the table that offseason. If they did not trade him and held his rights, then scola would be basically forced to sign a long term commitment overseas bypassing his prime years. We got lucky, and had the pieces to get scola. I think the front runner was Cleveland that year to get him in a trade. Kudos to the spurs management for class, allowing scola to fulfill a dream of his. In the mean time they got cap relief. Win win for both side at the time. But of course in hind sight, if the spurs knew what kind of player he would be today, they would have made room for him back then.
I had a feeling whenever I saw "Spurs Appreciation Thread" with a five-star rating that this would have something to do with Scola. Beautiful.
