    F4L,

I pretty much dismissed everything you had to say when you started with the idiotic premise that Mobley is dead weight.

    rockets are soft inside????

we are one of the best rebounding teams in the league, how is that soft?
teams lacking a player named shaq cannot score inside against us, how is that soft?

i just don't know about that....

Unfortunately I am a new member to this forum or you would understand where I am coming from with Cuttino. I think he is a talented player. But he hurts the Rockets with his style of play. I dont think he fits in with us. Read my previous posts about the Rockets offense and you will see where I stand with him.

I think with Cuttino addition by subtraction is the best way to go for this team.

Eddie Griffin, Yao, Mo Taylor, Jason Collier. They dont seem like brutes on the inside to me? You think they are tough? Dont mistake the rebouding with toughness. We get owned down low by all the good 4's in the league and we need to get tougher defending down low period. Also, if you watch the Rockets you will see that they constantly get beat on the boards by the strong teams, because their relying on their athletic ability and height does not work against them. Watch them play Utah for instance they will get beat up by Utah because Utah is tougher. And Utah is far less talented. As I said in my initial post, I think Cato does bring some toughness to the table and I would like to see him play alongside Yao a little bit more. But overall the Rockets are quite soft. But that can change with some smart player moves.

The Four Guys I named up top are all soft. Yao may become aggressive one day but Eddie, Mo, and Jason are lost causes in my eyes when it comes to toughness. As long as we are this weak down low we will not win a title.

How can you leave the Lakers out? As long as Shaq is around, taking care of his body, I don't see them drop out of the title contender list.

I don't get it when fans here keep taking about the "talent" the Rockets have. The Rockets have a lot of athlets, but not good players with basketball talent, just like the Clippers & Blazers.

Basketball is a team sports, the problem with the Rockets is they don't play as a team. It's obviously that either the GM didn't get the right players for the system, or the coaches couldn't teach the team. In any case, something need to be done in the off season to address these issues.

I dont see Shaq playing for more than 2 more years. Shaq relies soo heavily on his athletic prowess to dominate and he knows this. Hes a smart man who has said he would not play basketball past 32 before. He knows once his athletic ability suffers so will his game. He is one of the players who I see retiring before tarnishing his legacy so to speak. And even if he does stay the Lakers role players will all be super washed up. Fox, Horry, and Shaw these guys will all be older and worse than they are now. We are talking 3 years from now. The Lakers will not be in the title race in 3 years unless they pull off some serious moves. I think the teams I named are definitely in better position than LA is at this point in time.

Unless Yao becomes a dominated player on both end of the floor in a year or two, the Rockets will not be a factor for/in the playoff with the players and the system they currently have. I have high hopes on him, but I believe it will take at lease THREE more years for Yao to be a dominating inside force.

Right now, I'd rate both Francise & Yao as a 1/2 star. Until one of them becomes a complete star, the Rockets won't be a playoff regular. When both of them become a complete star, the Rockets will be a very good team. With the right role players, they could easily be a title contender.

It depends on how Yao's developments, build the roles players around Yao (not Francis) and CHANGE THE COACHING STAFF!!!

    1) Need a defensive coach (JVG)

    2) Need a strong defensive power forward (PJ Brown, B Grant, maybe Zo) to go against the West power forwards.

    3) Hire Moses Malone and other great centers to show Yao how to power to the basket. He is too weak inside.

Nap. Shaq has been talking about his contract extension. A guy as much enjoys spot light as Shaq does, he will never retire as long as he can physically play. If you have watched past few LA games, you know that Shaq is still in his prime. A 50% to 75% Shaq is still far more dominating than any other players the NBA currently has.

With the way Kobe has been playing & improving over the past couple years, how can anyone write the Lakers off?

Don't be fooled by the other role players, they are just ROLE players Jackson uses to fill the particular roles in their system. Remember the role players the Bulls had over their championship years? Craig Hodges, BJ Armstrong, John Paxson, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper, Bill Cartwright, Luc Longly, etc. As long as they had MJ and Pippen, it didn't matter who esle they throughed out there. Same thing applys to the Lakers.

Easy there homer! Count to ten....you'll feel better.

A common symptom of homerisim is denial and refusal to recognize when other teams are better than the Rockets!

Any objective ROCKET FAN will realize this fact without getting their feelings hurt...Thus, discusing these issues does NOT mean must one must move to another town...

P.S. Not all Rocket fans live in Houston.

I believe Mavs are at their peak. They'll probly play this level of bkball for another season but start falling again... WITH NO TITLE. They have a pretty decent chance at it this year.. but I don't think they'll be able to pull it off. Spurs are scary though. I only see them improving after this season. Robinson will be retiring and they'll have some room to bring in a couple of other layers. All their young players are turning out really well, and Duncan is young and better than ever. They'll be a force for another 3 years at least. The Rockets though will be a major contender for the title after next season. They'll probly make a decent run for it next season, but the season after... watch out. It'll be Spurs vs. Rox in the WCF. My #2 and #1 fav teams, respectively. That'd be sweetness.

And let me guess you have the "Future" lottery numbers as well?

You or I do not know whats gonna happen in the future, All it takes is 5 guys on the floor playing as a team no matter what team or player it is.

Looks like the original poster was right. What I don't understand is why Les didn't bring in an interim coach during Rudy's absence. Larry Smith is abysmal. He shouldn't be coaching during the crucial last stretch.
