I think they might make it, but they don't think Pau is needed anymore.

Wow, Bucks definitely look like the best team in the league if Gasol is heading over there. Possible Gasol vs Gasol matchup in playoffs.

Pau's numbers are fool's gold, imo. His release is Terrence Jones slow, if not slower. He'll never shoot a lot of 3s. And the slow release is why his % drops off in the playoffs, because defenses close in the playoffs.

You can sag off Pau, because you have plenty of time to recover on him. I figure that (and, primarily, the slowness on defense -- nagging injury/age toll) is also why Pop's stopped playing him.

I don't think this move will be impactful for the Bucks....esp now that Mirotic is back, but it is injury insurance, I suppose.

Farieds release is slow too. But he gives us 1-2 a game

The more important question is do they still speak to each other in Spanish?

that's a stretch (pun intended). It's a fair comparison, but let's discuss it.

First want to say this is not a criticism of Faried, since he brings so much more than slow-as-molasses Gasol can at his age. I'm merely comparing threes.

So far, it's a surprise to defenses that Faried will take them. (What we are seeing with Gasol is defensive scouting that's further along.) We haven't yet seen whether defenses will stop daring Faried to shoot, nor have we seen playoff-intensity defense, because just marginal close-out will stop Gasol and Faried from shooting -- as we see with Pau's playoff record for threes.

keep in mind: Faried and Gasol won't be doing anything but slow-release, catch-n-shoot from the arc (no extra range like Mirotic/Lopez), no dribble resets, no head-fakes, no nothing except super wide open threes, which really are only achievable from Top of Key kick-outs or strong-side corner...since long close-outs are easier against skip passes. So, placing them strong-side is both where you want them, but don't want them, at the same time.

In playoffs, Giannis will need guys who can actually get them off against close-outs like Mirotic and Lopez: who both have 27' range, do the head-fake, one-dribble resets, hit ENYO-face threes, Mirotic on the move, etc. Gasol isn't going to bust into that lineup, and you have Ilyasova, too.

btw: look at Pau's splits last year and this. Notice how his 3s dropped off the table in attempts and %. Pops gave up on him for multiple reasons.

Carry that team Mr. Greek A.

All you need is Middleton to be out 2-3 games (I don’t want that to happen)but curious to see what would happen to the team.
