wait, so piston trade White for a 2nd and a late 1st round? why no eastern team shows interest in Bateer? like NY or Miami? he will be the shaq of the east easily
Robinson and Willis will retire soon. Bateer will get some minutes. Robinson, maybe. But, Willis? Bateer will be on the porch before Kevin the Ageless...
Mummies are ageless. Willis is not a mummy. Therefore Willis is not ageless. Seriously, Willis is 40 years old and going downhill, how many years do you think he has left in the NBA? As for Malik Rose. Dude is 6-7 and no Ben Wallace.
I'd really like to see Bateer do well in SA. I'm not a Spurs fan, but they look like they will have an even better team this year with their new additions. I'm surprised all Detroit got was a second round pick for him. If I was the Rockets I would have done that trade in a heart beat, then waived Collier. My take on this wrong forum crap: CC.net has gotten a ton of new members since we drafted Yao Ming and we will get plenty of new members through the season. Some of the members will not be native english speakers, so we should cut new posters some slack about where they post. Some of the best new posters speak little english, but they have good insight on players or the game, or what's going on in China or wherever. It's really annoying to see a ton of wrong forum posts instead of discussion on the topic. The people who can move the topics will take care of it. I think it's even worse than the old 'free post' issue we used to have here. Anyway, that's just my take, and I have no control over what happens here so please don't get too upset over what I think. B
Bateer for a low 2nd rounder is a steal. I sure would have thought the Pistons could get more. That said, the Spurs need backcourt and SF help a lot more than another PF or C. This is a nice relatively long term move (5 years at least), but isn't really going to put them in the Lakers/Kings league or anything in the short term. The Spurs need more guards/sfs that are dynamic players that can shoot, drive and play defense. Until they improve those positions they are a notch shy of elite.
Parker, Ginobili, Smith, Bowen....Parker best young PG in the L..... Ginobili best player in EUR and soon to be ROY.... Smith a great shooter..... Bowen best outside defender in the L...... SA a title, TD MVP...... Book it!
Now that this is in the right forum, I can expand on my "thoughts." I could care less about Bateer being a Spur. I'm sorry guys. I won't do it again. I'm not really one to do the "wrong forum" thingie...this is like the 3rd time I've done it without at least a topic response as well. If you notice, I seek out newbies and greet first posts as much as anyone. Here, I was more trying to give my "thoughts" about a Spurs signing by smacking it metaphorically. I guess it wasn't cute. my bad on second thought about my "thoughts:" it is pretty strange that all 3 Chinese players are in Texas now, although Wang might be gone in What? 10 more days.
HeyP, I'm not directing this just at you, it's just a trend I've been getting really annoyed with lately. I wonder if it is causing people to not want to post new threads at all. Back to Bateer and the Spurs, I think they have a solid player in every position. They have a young backcourt with a veteran SG to help guide them. I think it's quite possible during the year the Spurs could have three foreign players in the starting line up. I also think it would be cool if Dallas does keep Wang and the Great Wall is kept intact in Texas. It will make the instate games even more interesting to watch, and maybe even help the three Chinese players feel more at home. Just imagine what other teams are going to go through when they make the Texas road trip and play Dallas, San Antonio and Houston in the same week. B
Unless Ginobili or someone other than duncan can prove that he can create his own shot when playoff defenses clamp down, the spurs will lose in the playoffs.
Good call, fwang. I was hoping the Rocks would pick him up, based on what I saw during the WBC. They got him cheap, IMO.
The Spurs fans still haven't figured out this isn't the football where you could sit Bowen and Rose on offense, sit Smith and Parker on defense and play Ginobili on special teams.
