In the midst of having tremendous smoke blown up my rear about the state of the Rockets....I think it's precious to suggest that the team that just won 20 in a row and is up 2 games to 1 in the Western Conference Finals is "Fool's Gold." If that's Fool's Gold, sign me up.

Yeah, there was bound to be a let down game, and the Thunder had all the emotion of a must win game at home. I never expected the Spurs to sweep this series, but I still expect them to win.

The Spurs are the team of substance, if anything Miami is fool's gold.

never really understood the foregone conclusion that the Spurs will represent the West. They held serve at home...isn't that the expectation in the NBA Playoffs?

It was a remarkable run, but the Thunder are on a whole different plain of existence than anyone else the Spurs will face...including the Heat.

still a tough series to call, but I like the Thunder

It's not fools gold but it definitely gets an asterix next to it for including the playoffs. Rox had 22 wins where they were traveling around playing different teams in different cities every night. The 8 wins over Utah and LAC in the playoffs where SAN didn't have to travel and didn't have to beat a different team the next 3 games definitely makes this thing deserve an asterix.

It's harder to beat the SAME team multiple times consecutively, let alone sweep them. And they're playoff teams. How many sweeps do you see in the playoffs? How many 4-5 game winning streaks do you see in the reg. season, where you probably face a pathetic team every 3-4 game.

What the Spurs accomplished was amazing. But it doesn't matter if they don't win it all.

IMO the Rox were a pathetic team, which is part of what made our streak so special.

But both streaks stand on their own. This is classic apples - oranges.

It's not about those two games man, they sweeped Jazz&Clippers, lost two games in like 3 months.

I wouldn't call the Rockets pathetic, that team had a big three (or some fraction) and a deep bench. If anything, they underperformed.

If you play the same team you learn there tendencies and faults, especially if your the superior team.

I guess I just don't understand the fool's gold label being thrown at a conference finalist. They're still 2 wins away from being Western Conference champs.

Maybe not fool's gold but they definitely have some chinks in the armor. The Heat will take them with a healthy Bosh.

Heat are not near as good Thunder, Defence, Offense, Rebounding, Depth, Coaching, Closing...where is Miami even better?

If Spurs gonna lose they will lose against OKC, they will/could take care of Heat in max. 5 games.

Yao was lost after the 10th win and all was left was TMac + role players. I wouldn't say pathetic team but they definitely did NOT underperform.

in a 10-2 playoff record so far, i'd say. if the Rockets were 10-2 in the playoffs right now...and in the WCF tied 2-2...I'd be ecstatic..and so would everyone who is posting in this thread.

holy hell, how do i find myself in a position defending a team i don't like?

Just to make sure we're looking at the same roster: http://www.clutchfans.net/teams.cfm?season=2008

It has T-Mac, our diamond-in-the-rough rookies Brooks and Landry; Hayes, Battier, and a bunch of corpses, plus Rafer Alston point-guarding. That's underperformance?

Plus my point was that the 2008 Rockets team can't be compared to the 2012 Spurs. If you're disagreeing with me, maybe you think they can be?

I confused the years, I was thinking of the 2009 team that had Artest for some reason.

Yeah, that was a pretty ****ty team. Forget what I said before

if you believe the analysts who all thought they would be locks for another championship because of he run, i agree with ch. those role players won't be able to handle young superstars.
