He just ran his fastest time ever (after a 4 year ban for doping) at age 32. _____ On September 5, 2014, Gatlin won the 100 metres at the IAAF Diamond League final in Brussels with a personal best of 9.77 seconds. He then went onto to complete a sprint double at the meet, winning the 200 metres in a time of 19.71 seconds. This was the second fastest time of the season, behind his world lead of 19.68 he set at the Monaco Diamond League earlier in the year. wiki
Do you think he is clean? It just might be too good to be true. Sprinters do not come back better after a ban for PED use.
A few athletes have refused their IAAF star nominations because Gatlin was nominated. The thing is his ban was in 2006.
I don't know what to think -- the testing he has is the toughest in the world -- but he just ran one of the fastest times in history at 32 years old.
They are all on something. Look at the top sprinters and way too many of them all come from the same training teams. That's not a coincidence.
Listened to an expert going off vs. Gatlin and the IAAF. Basically said these bans are the biggest joke ever and mentioned a detail that shows how messed up the system is: During those bans, no one from IAAF will test the banned athlete for substance-abuse, so they're basically free to take every substance available. You know that the active athletes only take doping that they can 100% mask from testing? So the banned guys can take every doping available and don't worry. Add the fact that they are in no competitions and can practice every day, a ban is a really good way to improve yourself. I'm also disgusted at the event directors, no one should invite guys like Gatlin, Powell, Gay, etc who have been banned in the past.
The fastest 100m times in the world this year are by : Justin Gatlin - 32 Richard Thompson - 29 Asafa Powell - 31 (32 next month) Mike Rodgers - 29 Tyson Gay - 32 Kim Collins has the 9th fastest time and he's 38.
And Carl Lewis' last WR and Personal best time was when he was 30. And Michael Johnson's WR in the 400m to this day was when he was 32. (This might not be beaten for a long time.)
No, but I'm saying that the bans are a complete joke and a good way to improve. Ban the athlete for life, a few years are a joke and everyone sees they're not clean afterwards.
