Of course, that's not what happened here. He put the 10 month-old in the car and went back in the house where the 3 year-old was with the mother. There's no excuse to leave a 10 month-old in the car while it is running in that situation. If you don't want to take the time to get your kid out of the car because you forgot your sunglasses, at least don't be stupid enough to leave the car running.

Of course the person who stole the car should shoulder most of the blame. I'm just saying the parents should take a little responsibility instead of trying to blame an entire company for the actions on one employee.

We don't know if the car was running or not. That was just speculation from comments in this thread.

Wow.....you just said a mouthfull. Spend five minutes in the D&D though, and you'll realize this is the culture we live in. Common sense isn't all that common anymore.

I don't have kids and I'll throw stones. They're idiots. Who leaves a car running...baby or not?

I don't get what's wrong with leaving a 10 month old in the car with the car running to run back into the house real quick.

We don't know if the car was running in this case; it doesn't say. But, what's the problem with it if it was? I doubt they're getting CO in the cab. There is the slight danger of someone stealing your car and baby. But, for the sake of AC and the heater, it is much smarter to have the car on than off. As for the 10 month old in Houston August -- that's why you leave the car on. Not that I'm saying you should go do your grocery shopping with the kid back in the car. But, a baby can do just fine in an air conditioned car for 3 minutes while you go do something.

We do know this baby was strapped into his car seat. With him belted in and the car seat clicked into it's base strapped in the car, this baby can get himself into absolutely no trouble. He can't crawl away, he can't reach anything, he can't even turn over. You think a baby incapable of getting into trouble can't go unsupervised for 3 minutes?

I can understand the development of the social aversion toward ever leaving a child alone in the car, but let's use a little common sense and not go over board. Don't leave your baby to fry in a car, but don't freak out whenever a parent turns his back for a minute either.

You're right. And these people are b****ing to news reporters about one employee who didn't go by the correct procedure. Don't blame Sprint because your car was stolen with your unattended kid in it.

when a child grows old enough to play with his/her friends outside, do you follow their every step? if that child is kidnapped, is it the parents' fault for letting them play on their own?

I think we're all missing the real factor ... who in the hell would have sprint in the first place?? Oh thats right, parents who leave 10 month old babies in the car and one who would argue with the same Sprint rep for 2 hours w/out esculating the call.
