The Nationals are more than welcome to have him. In return, the Astros will accept either Stephen Strasburg or Bryce Harper. K Thanks.

How about Springer getting a hit in the late innings, stealing 3rd, and scoring on a groundout which ended up being the winning run? Not trying to read too much into it, but that's the kind of thing that gets me excited for the future. Cust needs to get it together or could lose his spot to someone like Fernando Martinez. I think he had a double off the wall in right field last night.
It's still early in the process but he's going to be the leader among Livan, Duke, Lyles and himself thus far. 8 ip, 0 r, 3 h, 4 k, 2 bb.
It was very nice. Not to mention his double was to take the lead 3-2, in addition to his run which ultimately was the difference (the run he drove in was the result of a lead off single by Singleton). Dude is amazing, but was promptly cut from the ML ST roster. Springer, DDJ, & both Villars are heading to minor league camp. Cust probably doesn't make it. Non-guarantee, and 0-14. His competition: F. Martinez .267/.313/.600 Schafer .333/.368/.444 Shuck .500/.583/.500 Bourgeois .250/.308/.385 Snyder .250/.308/.500 Bogey .077/.250/.077 I'm sure they will go off a lot more than 10-15ABs, but Cust could ill afford a terrible start after a terrible season last year. Castro after going 3-3 yesterday is hitting: .538/.571/.615 And he still isn't outplaying Snyder: .400/.455/1.100 (No I'm not confusing slugging with OPS) Here's a look at our projected lineup and how they are playing: Schafer: .333/.368/.444 Altuve: .308/.308/.385 J. Martinez: .357/.375/.786 Lee: .222/.222/.222 C. Snyder: .400/.455/1.100 Lowrie: .300/.462/.500 Bogusevic: .077/.250/.077 Paredes: .286/.286/.429 Obviously RF/CF/3B are still up for grabs and Snyder & Castro will be splitting time at catcher. If Bogey keeps struggling, I think F. Martinez ends up with his spot. Too me, the hard decision is who to send down between Schafer/Martinez/Shuck/Bogusevic/Bourgeois. I'd assume Bourgeois would have to clear waivers and probably would not. If it were me, it would be Schafer, unless he keeps up this torrid spring.
i was thinking a 3. middle of the rotation. we gave up melancon and got back our starting SS and potentially a #3 pitcher? that would be good.
It would be awesome. Lowrie just need to be healthy, and if Weiland can post a sub-4 ERA, it is a coup.
I wonder what that means in regards to Singleton making Opening Day roster? That's outside the realm of possibility right? Astros still have to cut 57 players down to 25.
I think it means good things as far as seeing him this season, but opening day isn't going to happen because Carlos Lee is playing first. If it were just Wallace, I'd say he could have an outside shot, but they won't put him on the roster to sit on the bench.
It would be the end to the Red Sox ever trading with the Astros ever again...especially if Melancon turns out to be worthless.
