Not happening. NY will not trade Sprewell, simple as that. Sprewell is not a "problem child", he is an icon in New York.

First, Eric Chenowith, second trading Sprewell? Layden isn't THAT stupid.

The only reason to do this trade from the Kings' perspective is to keep Webber in Sacramento. Stojakovic is already a better player than Spreewell. Bring it on, Kings!

Sprewell and Camby are the heart and soul of the Knicks. No way they trade Sprewell, and VERY unlikely they trade Camby.

    Dudes.

Sprewell has only been there for a couple of years. He isn't an icon in New York. If anything, it's Allan Houston who is the heart of that team.

Although I think Sacramento edges out NY in this trade, I have to admit that a Houston/Stojakovich double-pronged three point attack would be pretty formidable.

Sprewell is the icon in NY, believe me. Everyone that had the Ewing jerseys have the Sprewell jerseys now.

How long the player is on a team doesn't mean a thing. Oh yeah, and even if it sounds absurd now Allan Houston was in the 1994 Slam Dunk Competition. LMAO.

Sprewell played with heart and intensity against the Raptors, the rest of his team couldn't help him out.

No way. Petrie loves Peja. Peja is 23 and Sprewell is going on 32.

Petrie would risk losing CWebb rather than trade Peja for Spree.

Peja is good, but no way is he better then Latrell Sprewell! Sprewell is one of the best 2-guards in the league on both ends of the quarter, and he was one of the biggest reasons the Knicks got to the Conference Finals twice and added a conference championship.

You seem to think that Spreewell has no say about where he plays.

If he has said that he WANTS to play with Webber in Sacremento, then the Knicks would be wise to try and facilitate that (otherwise he might just strangle Van Gundy). And getting Peja back would be a real score, sure he may not be Spreewell, but he is a BIG SF who has a great outside touch and is only 23 years old!

Let's break down that proposed trade.

With Sacromento, I know they are really high on Turkoglu. One seemingly hears a lot of rumblings about how the Kings brass feels that Turkoglu's ceiling is even higher than Peja's. Trading Peja frees up some playing time for Turkoglu to step up with Christie playing the swing positions off the bench. Getting Sprewell adds some athleticism that Sacromento has really been yearning for.

I think this proposed trade is potentially a very balance trade in benefiting both sides. It is true that Spree is the heart and soul on the Knicks team. And there is no doubt that he is THE ICON in New York rather than Allan Houston. But it seems obvious that the Knicks have to move in a new direction with the future in mind. Spree is 32, and they will be getting back 2 young players with Peja being able to step in and make an immediate impact.

New York can finally have a true 3, instead of Spree or Houston playing pseudo 3. Their 3 guard lineup was effective in getting them to the Finals in 1999, but the effectiveness has waned each successive year. With this trade, they can finally eliminate the redundancy at the 2, and give Houston their unconditional confidence. I think Wallace would be a good pick up. Wallace can sit on the bench and learn while the Knicks make their run for the playoffs. Hopefully in a couple of years, he can step up and help ease New York's rebuilding transition.

I'm a big fan of both Peja and Sprewell, and I think the proposed trade makes sense for both sides.

I would like this trade, but Layden will never give in and rebuild.

BTW, I would LOVE for him to strangle Van Gundy....he doesn't know what the word OFFENSE means. [IMG]
