you never answer direct questions. what would have been an a? simple. did rudy get an a because he averaged 13? also why wont you criticize rudy for 5 straight lottery years? simple question...whats the answer. and being proud of staying with an argument for a long period of time is really immature. you are neither fair in your critiques nor are you particularly basketball savvy. but its your argumentative tone and your repeated distortion of facts coupled with your failure to ever respond directly to simple questions that shows what your character is all about. so just keep loving rudy and phil...and hating van gundy. but he will be around longer than you will stay with this board.
and fitch, chaney, dawson developed dream...not rudy. olajuwon was in the finals long before rudy took over...
Mister Van Gundy never adjusted after the first two victories. Avery Johnson went small and quick, the Rockets had no answer, and the series was over. The embarassment of game seven was the icing on the "badly outcoached" cake. One team was ready, the other was not. rockets didnt have the personnel to answer.
What has anyone heard of this guy? Also I doubt there will be regrets about not drafting him, if we aren't keeping a SF of Rudy Gay's potential w/ Size + Athleticism, I doubt we would keep a SF that isn't undersized but also probably not tall enough (6'6").
What "five straight lottery years" are you referring to? When Tomjanovich left the Lakers, they were a .550+ ballclub, well in the playoff hunt. Care to blame Mr. Van Gundy for what happened to the Knicks after he left? "Longer than I will stay with this board?" See that little "registered date?" on the side? End of that discussion. There is a very good chance Mr. Van Gundy will be gone during this season or after. As far as precedent goes, the Rockets fired Don Chaney halfway through the next season after three consecutive first round losses. Two first round losses and missing the playoffs is equivalent. As far as "proud of staying with an argument," you are the one that wants to keep it going. And exactly how many of those did he win? Roughly the same number as Mr. Van Gundy. Uh-huh. You just keep on believing that. Still doesn't excuse the worst game 7 loss in NBA history.
yeah wow you have been a fan since 2000...you timed it up to be here for rudy's lottery years. and the lakers prospered since rudy left...the knicks have stayed down since van gundy left...oh no...more facts that cant be contradicted...so what will edc do...just hate some more to cover up his lack of knowledge.
oh yeah and chaney was fired by a different owner at 25-25 coming off a coach of the year season...so because charlie thomas fired someone, that means les will do the same?
I think Van Chancellor is the coach we need, what do you think EDC? I think Dave Feitl, no Chuck Nevitt, No Serge Zwikker, no Tree Rollins should be our next center? (of course how could I know these guys if VanGundy didn't coach them?I Must be a rockets fan! With a differing opinion?) How about a player coach? I'm thinking Derrick Chievious,no Byron Dinkins,no David Wood is the obvious choice with Lionell Hollins as his assistant! Man, Van Gundys good ol' days. Can't wait for this season....what you think...wanna WIN? Me too!
Incorrect. I have been a fan since the Summit opened. First game was the Rockets' first game in that building. Just that there is a precedent, and a good one. If the Rockets don't get past the first round, or get into the semis and lose in 4 or 5 games and give the coach an extension, it says to me that Le$ is happy being the Memphis Grizzlies.
Lockout or no, JVG pulled an amazing bit of coaching out of his hat in that post season. This is a fact.
actually not a good precedent...stability is a better precedent...see utah with sloan and san antonio with popovich...changing coaches is easy, getting the right players is much more important. but you seem like the hyper critical type that can always do better at someone elses job. just for fun what do you do edc?
(1) Coaches that have won championships within three years of starting as head coach of new organizations: Larry Brown, Phil Jackson (twice), Rudy Tomjanovich, Pat Riley, Greg Popovich (albeit the lockout shortened season). Perhaps Le$ was right: "win and win now." (2) Sloan? Recognized, but do you want the Rockets to become the next Utah Jazz? (3) None of your business. (Not meant to be rude, but not something I choose not to reveal)
I would give you "solid," perhaps even "strong," perhaps even "A" if you wanted to grade it, but I think "amazing" is overstating it a bit.
Yeah and people like me who have had season tickets for 15 years don't get that option....all I get is more Toyota Center Bucks....well actually I do get 20 freee tickets to one game to bring freinds so that was pretty cool...
C+ or so. A bit worse than Mr. Van Gundy's three years, but it was not a "win and win now" situation. Before you ask your next question, the championships, the fact the team was rebuilding, and the fact Yao Ming was a rookie (IMHO) earned at least one additional season.
