Sam Cassell. Good quality role players can come from this point of the draft if the right pick is made.

I'm not wild about Daniels, and I think adding a first rounder is way to much to give to an average point guard with a questionable jumpshot.

I was hoping we would get Fisher.

i hope rockets can quickly settle the PG problem then move on to next mission : Backup Center. Just read somewhere Michael Doleac has agreed the offer from heat 4yr 12 millions... we goin to lose more options if we still cant settle our PG

I say we trade the TE for Daniels and then trade Spoon for Booth.

    look - see above

the trade exception means that we can TAKE ON extra salary in a trade - but why bother to grid lock ourselves with a high priced contract (like snow) if we can fill a need and NOT break the bank

I personnally like getting rid of the TE for a PG - I don't trust the Rox management NOT to take on more bad contracts if we keep it and use it in a different trade (see Cato... Maloney... Mo T)

You can't compare draft from 10 years ago to now. There are too many high school and underclassmen now. It would be like comparing a hypothetical MLB draft of AAA players and the actual MLB draft.

But it would be much nicer to get a starting PG for right now. :p

The Rockets should devote their time trying to get Gaines and Boki to pan out. They don't need another "project".

I think it will be the TE + a 1st rounder for Potapenko + Daniels

    Matt Jackson?

He was also the guy who said the Rockets were going to trade Cat and some other to the Suns for Penny Hardaway and some change about this time last year.

Not a good source of info, imo.

We'll see what the entire deal is, but I am not opposed to including a draft pick if we can secure a decent big body in the deal. That still leaves us the MLE to pursue other avenues. I like management's new philosophy. Daniels at $2.5million is a good value and I think he brings the tools that we need to the table. I think many are overrating him and he will by no means be spectacular. Perhaps I just have very low expectations for what I think our point guard should do and that is why I think this would be a solid acquisition. We just need him to play within the system, bring the ball down, hit the open shot, and D up. The defensive aspect of his game is the most intriguing. Don't think that this is some young guy with untapped potential who will blossom into a star here - he's not. He will be solid however and will do fine to meet the low expectations of Tracy McGrady's running mate.

I think the chances of the Rockets finding a long term solution at the point with their 1st rounder (even if it is a pick in the 20s) are greater than Daniels being the long term solution at the point. Especially considering Daniels is a free agent next summer. This could be a Glen Rice type of trade where we give away a first rounder and in the end, have nothing to show for it.

If we take on a "bad contract" for a backup center, along with Daniels, who has a short contract, we cover a need and get the money off our cap. Seattle gets it off their cap a year earlier. I bet we're trying to get James and Seattle is asking for the pick to grease the deal. Booth has a much longer contract.

Faos: Agreed. But I think he gets a great deal of his information from David Dalati who is very credible.

Perhaps the Sonics will package a second player via a seperate trade( that is separate of the Trade exception) and unload a back up big man. It feels like not all the details are announced thus far, like the T-mac trade as first posted as a 3-1 trade. So hopefully both problems could be filled, but I think CD and company are doing great, come on we did just get T-mac, have faith my friends :)

that would be fine - I am just concerned about the Rox taking on a lot a salaries at every position on the floor. If we get the backup C and a starting PG then we are covered and who cares about the pick (as everyone has been saying - with that lineup, we are talking 25-30)

I like the Idea of trading the first rounder and the trade exception for Daniels. League Rules say that we cannot go 2 consecutive years without a first round draft pick. Therefore the pick would have to be two years from now when Yao and TMac are dominating the NBA. They can have the last pick in the draft. Who wants that garbage.!

Do any of you guys think the Sonics would part with Radmonovic (however you spell it)?

Daniels + Radman is still within the TE.

you might be on to something here. I like Potapenko. He's a tough intensive player with a bit of coordination on the offensive end. I am not sure Seattle wants to give him up though as they probably know this.

He gave Yao Ming some problems on D.
