I remember when a bbs member called Rich about something that broke here first (I can't remember the exact story) and Rich just laughed and made some smart ass remark as if that could never, ever happen even though it has many times.

It is worlds better than seeing him on the tube (when they do those local sports beat TV shows with all the other washed up Monday morning quarterbacks) :D

In a perfect world 790 would hire Barry, but I doubt they can afford him.

Oh that kills me to. It's not his normal voice, it's when he tries to be funny and does some random impression.

    Da-Glyde,

Nope, I've been married a wonderful 7 months. I couldn't stand Mark and Rich for 6 of them. :D

Matt Jackson is the only guy I like. I listen to 790 or FM 99.1 otherwise.

Yea, I couldn't believe it when I heard it. It was so out of the blue. I don't remember people bashing TMac in that thread, so I don't see the corelation between what he was talking about and this board.

I mean, it's a freaking message board, a bunch of Rockets fans getting together to talk, and he wants to make us out as some media outlet releasing a story to the mass public that wasn't true. Someone posted a rumor, we discussed. Point blank. Clutch took care of it when it was found to be invalid.

And, he wants to talk about 'watching one's back'. Well, I may not agree with everyone or everything posted on these boards, but every member here is like a brother. You bash one, you bash us all.

I was about to point out that none seems to say anything about Matt and Chance (both posters on this site!)

For entertainment value, the show is pretty good. but let me show you how lance is, about a month ago he said mcgrady's shooting percentage wasn't a problem because of all the other things he did. I emailed him and disagreed and we went back and forth. so then last week he said that he wouldn't trade Garnett for Yao straight up, and I called and said I would that Yao basically will have more impact on games by the pressure he puts on the middle and I said that's garnetts problem. so then he starts reciting garnett's individual stats, and he's pumping up garnett's shooting percentage. Unfortunately I had a melt down and didn't think of what he said about McGrady's percentage. then this morning he said he wouldn't trade yao for garnett straight up.

It's funny how these things go.

People have their particular tastes, especially on the radio, and they can feel very strongly about it.

For example, in my own personal opinion, the only bigger idiot on all of radio than rich lord is charlie pallilo.

Mark is a reasonably intelligent guy, and you can tell how much rich grates on him sometimes.

But Lance and John in the mornings are different. Granted, I only get to listen for about 30 minutes on the way to work, so it's not like I hear their whole show. But while Lance may often try to be a clown, he has a better knowledge of sports, and especially local sports, than anyone in the market with the possible exception of Wexler.

Frankly, the number of people who seem to enjoy pallilo has always mystefied me. He interrupts callers repeatedly, he is rude, condescending, and, worst sin of all, he thinks he is funnny and/or clever, when he is neither.

and then there are the two with high pitched voices who are on in the evening - I want to call them up and ask them if their show is on in the evening because High School is out then? :D

I used to like 610 till they shamelessly started promoting/insisting that the Texans need to draft VY. Unfortunately you have John in the morning and Rich Lord(who I cannot stand anymore) in the afternoon who will not even listen to any other options. Then you have Chance's song saying the Texans need to draft VY. I can't believe a radio station would try to dictate what the Texans need to do. I'm fine with giving opinions, but they take it way overboard.

By the way, is David Carr supposed to do his weekly shows next year? If I were him, I'd say "Me and my boy Reggie are going to have our weekly shows on with Charlie".

I loved yesterday when McKinney was interviewed, taking DC back.

Sorry to get off on a rant.

That thread was bad form to begin with. The second half of the thread was mostly people making fun of T-Mac's rumoured situation.

IMO, Matt & Adam have the best sports show on radio. When Adam re-joined 610, that immediately became my favorite show. They kinda remind me of a young Rich and Charlie.

I'm just trying to figure out why Lance has brought this up now after it was already gone from the board an our conciousness.

A couple of personalities want vince, they aren't trying to dictate the draft. that's ridiculous, lance is a bush guy, vandemeer is carr guy, matt is a bush guy, adam hasn't shown any preference.

Well, if clutchfans.net is blocked from their work then it looks like they are going to start getting stories broken to them by their callers.

Well, the good news is what gets said here has relevance. And it does. This bbs is incredibly well self-monitored and the official moderation seems right 99.9% of the time and even Clutch's response explained the reasons why the thread wasn't closed immediately and what this bbs. is.

As objectionable as I felt certain posts were I think all of those had T-Mac's back. So if my sensibilities were disoriented I can imagine how T-Mac felt about it.

But to tell you the truth I think any rumor that got floated could have taken hold because of the comments he continually made in the press.

Hard-core Rockets fans, and teammates (according to Yao) were so in the dark that there had to be a temptation here to villify T-Mac here and I just didn't read posts that were willing to do so.

Then came along a rumor that gave T-Mac's troubles grave substance here, and it gave us a reason to support all the "I'm not really focused on basketball now" remarks. Heck, the all-star game and T-Mac's dedication to playing in it (yes, in Houston) made old-timers like myself think, man this is ****ed up. Fun? We're talking about fun? I mean are we actually talking about fun? I guess the Phoenix game was just a bummer and he was just upset that his mental absence had any discernible affect. Or he wasn't thinking about it all.

It's just impossible for me to find fault with the Clutch Crew over this. Was it regrettable and very uncomfortable for probably all of us? Yes, but if T-Mac wasn't so distracted/injured and seemingly thoroughly depressed he might possibly be struck by the great support here.

Furthermore, I do wish the Chronicle would really pick up on this controversy. The real story is people that really love the Rockets are pretty damned loyal.

Because nothing makes a pious b*stard feel better than dredging up a sleazy old rumor to juice up his ratings, in the guise of sermonizing against sleazy old rumors.

Like Jeff, I'm a big fan of Wex, he's a younger charlie as Jeff says. My problem with 610 is and always will be their slanted views towards their favorite athletes. I don't know, I expect a little more objectivity from professionals. Its one thing for me to always be pumping up francis or criticizing mcgrady on a web site, I'm not getting paid for this, my opinion doesn't matter. but its another thing when you are a part of the media. but most of the sports media is like that. for a group of people who always want accountability from athletes, they are not held accountable for the things they say on the air.

I'm glad that Lance and Marc(even though his knowledge outside of football is limited) are there, kind of as a voice's of reason for their shows. Unfortunately, I am not in the car when Matt and Adam (the best show) are on, so I haven't been able to hear their viewpoints.
I stand corrected, it is not 610, but a couple of the dominating personallities and chances stupid little song that seem to overshadow the other's opinions.
