Geesh, these Lance bashings are getting out of hand here. I've never listened to his show, but I am not sure he deserves to be bashed like this here. Clutchfans.net is a media member, 610 is a media member, and I don't know if it's a good idea to make enemies like this. Chance and MattJ were good citizens here, and why do they get involved just because Lance badmouthed a rumor here?

Lance is deserving of being "called out" in this one instance because of the reasons that have already been stated in the thread. Not really any major bashing going on from what I can see. Just some creative & bored folks doing some top notch farking
sjackson0, I was one of the first people to see that thread because....well, I have a boring job. If I remember right, you mad it VERY clear that it was strictly a rumor. The thread did get carried away, but it wasn't your fault. Not at all.

I think he rubbed some folks the wrong way when he got a little more involved/vocal in the D&D. Certainly I saw him a little differently after that period. Beyond that, though, he's always been just another good poster among the many here, so I dunno. Anyhow, as to everything else....amazing. Someone needs to fire up some popcorn.
Let me sum up what I see in this whole situation, which, frankly, I'm not too worked up over. I just want to throw a few things out there, and I'll say up front that I don't think Clutch was wrong in not killing that thread earlier. I didn't hear what Lance said on the air, but it's been described enough. Anyway... First, how can you be sure it was Lance who was the one viewing from the 610 office? Are there seperate ISP's for Lance, Matt, and the rest of the crew? Are you going by the time of day that the viewing was being done? Second, about the rumor, since Clutchfans is not a major media outlet, as in a newspaper, or sports news channel, I agree that a discussion of that nature on this board, is fine to allow. The rumors will likely not reach anyone outside of a Rocket fan, who would have to be actively following the team, on THIS board. It's unlikely to cause any "damage control issues" to the fanbase, (who'll realize it's just a rumor), let alone be a spark for national bashing of Tmac- Clutchfans will not get that much exposure to those who don't seek us out. Basically, I see Clutchfans as a community of fans, not a news outlet. Third, I believe that before this season started, Clutchfans was not invited by the Rockets, to the "Media Day", or whatever it was, and that stirred up the site then too. The reasons given at that time, was that Clutchfans was not a major media outlet, which I agree, and that there was concern that Clutchfans would compete too much with Rockets.com. Rich Lord mention on air, that Clutchfans consisted of "amateur journalism", and that was a sort of defense for the Rockets decision, if I'm not mistaken. Fan pressure prevailed, however, and Clutch was finally invited to attend, and interview, and report back to this community. Lastly, I'd like to pose a question to you guys. From the Media Day standpoint, it seemed that many were vouching for Clutchfans to be a viable news outlet, and that Clutch should have been invited from that standpoint. Now, with this rumor issue, it seems that the identity of the site is more of a community of fans, not a news outlet, which makes the thread ok. So which is it? Personally, I feel that Clutch is in the right, to allow that thread. But could it be that since Clutch was invited to the Media Day event, that SR610 and/or some of it's members feel that Clutchfans has more responsibility now, that they are a widely used news outlet? Try to think from the other point of view, maybe we're missing something. I listen to the station all the time. Some of it I like, some not. If it's not about the Rockets, I usually don't pay a whole lot of attention. These guys are doing their job, and are better at it than most of us could be. They aren't perfect. I actually was thinking one morning about the throat clearing, and one of the guys had mentioned a cough button on the mic, previously...maybe they should use it. Let's all kiss and make up, and don't worry about it too much.
