The borat-like parody is funny, it's not offending to the guy. The accent is totally off, sounds more like Slavic to me...

    I thought it was funny.

I understand some might be offended, but I mean lets be realistic here, we all have a different taste for comedy.

    Bingo

It was "humorous", yes. Was it actually funny to me? I had one laugh with the "proof is in the hot dog" quote, didnt really laugh at anything else. It could have been a liiiittle bit better. Finally at the end he brought up the World Championships but nice attempt though

THis is the funniest thing I've heard in a while.

    Can't stop laughing

That bit is much funnier than most SNL skits

"I've never been arrested in Colorado"

"IF you go on my player page, see Vassili shoot 1000%" :D

I play in Ollympic and I can't play ahead of Kirk Snyder? Bonzi Wells is 275 pounds, can't play over him? Vassili is proven :D

Funniest thing I have ever seen posted on the GARM.

The parody was an imitation of life like his fanclub here, emphasizing any positive plays like that simple kick out pass to Luther last night where he had to dribble like 5 steps to make a layup but not mentioning that VSpan got 2 fouls in 3 minutes and the great finisher got his shot blocked.

I feel bad for Billy. He really wants to play and thinks he has something to offer. You have to admire his tenacity, and he plays hard when he is on the court. But he started this controversy. He shot off his mouth and made it clear that his individual goals are more important than the teams. When he did that he became fair game for the satirists trying to give the morning drive audience a laugh or two. So Billy needs to learn what Bonzi learned. Keep your mouth shut, work hard, and things will come your way.

See, I think you are misreading his comments. I think he made them because he sees the guys starting ahead of him struggling and he KNOWS he can contribute to the team. He KNOWS he can make the team better. I would think that if he was behind Steve Nash, we would not have heard a peep.

DD, I can't believe you are in any way defending VSpan's actions or attitudes.

I believe he has listened to some people who are telling him he is better than the coach thinks ... TMAC in his own country. He might be sincere, but he's sincerely deluded. He is not better than Rafer right now, no matter how much you don't like him, and no matter how much we need someone better, which makes this quite sad.

He might have the potential to be, with his head screwed on right. But, not with his attitude now, and playing time will not help that. Instead of doing what Ginobli, Dirk and Peja have done, working hard to improve their game to the NBA level for 2-4 years until they achieved success, he expects everything to be handed to him, and lead us to a championship.

Instead of showing humility to his teammates, he thinks he is as good as the superstars on our team, wanting the team to adjust to him, not the other way around. I can't imagine how much this burns players like Battier, who does the little things to make the team succeed.

We have unselfish players. Who would want to play with him? He turned the ball over too much, didn't shoot well, threw passes so hard it made his teammates look bad, got out of control, and then blameshifts, instead of improves. He did show flashes of good play, and has tons of energy and passion, which we all love, but hasn't brought that under control, for the better of the team. He hasn't shown in practice he can "play well with others." That's a head thing, not talent, not playing time.

I have been quite impressed with how JVG has handled this. He's been straight up with the issues, and shown compassion for VSpan. JVG has proven with Bonzi, that he can work with a player who gets a bad attitude, and not keep him in the doghouse, as long as he puts the team first. Bonzi has gone through his own journey of letting last year's playoffs go to his head, and ruining his play and value at the beginning of the year.

The real issue is not that Rafer was playing badly, causing him to speak out, it was that he got full of himself. MeSpan

This is a bit off topic, but did VSpan actually say "I was T-Mac back in Greece" or something to that effect? I know JVG was quoted as indirectly responding to the remark, but I don't think I've read a direct quote.

It probably has.. his fellow bench buddy Novakaine (living up to his name thread huh) must have shown it to him.

I hope VMac will take this frustration out on the court if he gets playing time and really show us that 1000% was not just a made up thing.

    2/2 for 10 points in 13 seconds.

I don't know why some posters are so offended. I thought this was hilarious. They're just poking a little bit of fun, is all. Lighten up :)

I laughed my head off every time he mentioned that his assists were higher than his turnovers.

I thought it was a funny percentage of 1000%. I think Morey would say it is very efficient.

"Putting myself in his shoes," I think the situation you describe would make me feel like I made a fool of myself first, and the rest was just public opinion joining in to help point it out. I would feel like I should have kept my feelings to myself and been more patient.

How would I feel if it were me? Rich and foolish... and responsible. I'm sure I'd get over it eventually once I figured out what I had done wrong, probably through the parodies etc., and probably while cashing one of my checks. Perhaps the criticisms, parodies included, will be cathartic rather than what you think is hurtful and unfair... either way... .I thought it was quite funny... and many others did too.... because of WHAT he said.

He's making millions, getting his chance in the NBA (Not as quickly as he'd like perhaps but patience is a virtue) and before half a season is up he wants to complain about the organization, the coach... etc? He opened himself up to the critique by saying the wrong thing. Not that what he said was necessarily incorrect, or without some validity... but you just don't say those things like that to the media unless you are ready for some backlash. I wonder what would have happened to someone in Greece who said those things about the coach... or China? Probably bigger backlash than he saw here... but I AM speculating. You don't think they'd be poking fun at the foolish American if roles were reversed?

Anyone who, regarding this, feels overly sorry for Billy, who I do like as a player and have nothing against him personally, is making too much of it and in my opinion jumping on a PC sheepwagon. Maybe the accent was a bit much... but the humor is in WHAT he says. Some think the accent was horrible, while some didn't know it was fake even given the ridiculous comments... but who cares. He was impersonating someone who's made foolish comments in the media lately... That's it. The humor is in WHAT he says, not in that he can't say it without a greek (russian) accent. If it were merely someone making fun of the way someone talks, not only would it be inappropriate, it wouldn't be funny.

Billy, if you're listening... it was funny AND we still like you.
