I don't even care about Stackhouse. He's a below average player, and it means nothing whether the Mavs lost or kept him. They would be a better team if he was just benched, and they played Harris and Terry at the guard spots with full starter minutes.

People talk about how Shaq wouldn't fit Phoenix's run-and-gun system. But how is Kidd supposed to fit Dallas's system? Dallas' style over the past few seasons has been a highly efficient, but slow paced offense. No pure distributing PG, just good combo guards like Harris and Terry. Few assists, but lots of players with one-on-one ability who could put up points by themselves (Harris, Terry, Howard, Dirk). It's a system that worked.

Kidd is absolutely horrible at scoring. His freak rebounding isn't needed either, because Dallas has been a good rebounding team without him. It's stupid and unnecessary to force multiple, better players to speed up their game and sprint with him for fast breaks, JUST to make Kidd worth something.

i like this deal from a rockets' perspective.... mavs lose a lot of depth, speed in harris (who kills us), perimeter shooting in stack and george, and a decent big body diop (one less to contend w/ yao, scola, and landry). plus a couple of 1st round picks....

So, the Nets are going to buy out Stackhouse, then Stack has to wait 30 days...then I guess the Mavs will resign him. That aint right.

Hey, Netsies, don't buy out Stack. Deal him for Rox expirings. Stack a Rock. Stack a Rock. Stack not back to Mavs. Stack not back to Mavs. If only...

but its strange. the 1st guy to report it is Tony Mejia, who doesnt appear to be on top of any blockbuster trade. and espn still doesnt have any breaking news on kidd.

    so, how reliable is this?

I love this trade for us!

But I will say - if Stack is immediately waived and resigns with the Mavs in March before the deadline for playoff eligibility......all of a sudden they look pretty strong again. It becomes Harris & Diop for Kidd, and that's not a bad deal at all.

    Dampier/(Dirk)/(Bass)/(scrub signed off the street)
    Dirk/Bass/Ju. Howard
    Josh Howard/Hassell/(Jones)
    Terry/Jones (Stack?)
    Kidd/Barea

They basically are going to give devin harris and 2 low first round picks for kid. They will get stackhouse back. Its not that bad. Its a lot better than what memphis got for Gasol. LA had to give up nothing for him.

    My plea:

Nets, don't be nuts and buy out Stack. Deal him for Rox expirings. Let Stack be a Rock. No to Stack going back to Mavs (in 30 days).

New Jersey hasn't exactly been a run and gun team the past couple of seasons either. They actually play at a fairly slow pace.

Dallas is going to suck now because Jason Kidd is a washed up has-been.

A friend of mine sent this observation to me -- ain't it the truth?!

"Win Now" Mavs' style = Jason Kidd

"Win Now" Suns' style = Shaq

"Win Now" Lakers' style = Pau Gasol

"Win Now" Rockets' style = Shane Battier

    Gotta love those $Balls!

This is the exact lineup I have for them except you can probably pencil in Malik Allen as the backup center behind Dampier. He is an okay vet. Also, they seem to be getting Antoine Wright in a second deal so he could be third string SF.
