Like you, I was terrified at the thought of the original three-team deal (that had supposedly fallen through) but mainly at the thought of Harris heading to Portland. The loss of the perimeter sharpshooting by the Mavs will allow defenses to double team the likes of Dirk and Howard. I'm sure they're aware of this and feel that Kidd's ability to make scoring easier for his teammates (all over the floor) will outweigh the loss.
Yep, according to them, it's the following: Dear Mark, I guess you're getting crack from the same dealer.
Don't underestimate the Kidd effect. He'll make everyone on that team so much better, even at his age. IMO if this trade happens, it'll the most influential trade of the season on any team, even more so than the Pau Gasol trade to LA.
I think this is great for the rest of the west...I'm not sure Dallas realizes how bad Kidd is at shooting the ball. And in the playoffs, when you move into more of a half court game...he will be taking 20 shots a game and making like 6!
Jason Kidd doesn't even have to shoot the ball at all to be effective. And in the playoffs, it'll be Dirk taking all the shots in the half court.
Getting Stackhouse and Harris out of the west...I have no problem with this deal! Defensive plan against the Mavs...Leave Kidd open!
me too.. him and Klingon can go to the East for all I care.. those two have killed the Rox in the past... bad move for Mavs in my opinion
An up and coming PG who is 10 years younger than Kidd, an effective 6th man (Stackhouse), 3 role players (Devean George, DeSegana Diop, Maurice Ager), a first round draft pick this year and another in 2010. That's a lot.
Harris is way more dangerous against us than kidd. But they are talking about leadership and mental toughness. Well I am not sure how tough Kidd still is. I am not sacred a bit by this move, especially if they have to lose Harris and Stackhouse.
Says who? Is he gonna sit out a month so he can return to the Mavs? Especially when he can go to any team he wants.
