    Does that mean we're gonna get an aging PG who's on the steep decline?

    Bosh ==> Miller
    Paul ==> ???

    cross multiply, and you get... ___________

    Can we please stop using the argument of "We can't trade for Paul because we already signed Lowry." Paul is a star player. Lowry is a role player. Anytime you have a chance to get a young star like Paul without gutting your team, you take it, and trim the edges later.

    Chris Paul and Emeka Okafor

    for

    Aaron Brooks, Shane Battier, Jordan Hill, Jared Jeffries, David Andersen and a future 1st rounder

    Battier gets bought out and returns to us

    Paul/Lowry
    Martin/Ariza/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier/Budinger
    Scola/Patterson/Hayes
    Yao/Okafor/Miller

    Hornets save a ton of money in the upcoming years by getting rid of Okafor's long contract, and get a pick in return for buying out Battier. Brooks plays the same position as Collison, but neither really become redundant as Brooks can be an ideal sixth man, and can even play alongside Collison at times.

    Rockets get a big three of Paul/Martin/Yao, and hold onto a cast of quality role players with Ariza, Battier, Lowry, Scola, and Patterson. Okafor can come in as a shotblocker off the bench that we've needed ever since Mutombo retired.

    A purely hypothetical deal.

    ...but a damn good one. One that makes the most sense. With all this Yao talk, Okafor would be welcome.

    Why would NO limit themselves to teams Paul wants to play for.

    Does Paul have any leverage here?

    Why would a team want him if he doesn't want to play there? So he does have some leverage.

    Paul is a top 10 NBA player and arguably a top 5 one. All of you talking about not doing this because it will cost us Brooks or because Lowry won't get enough minutes or because we will lose young talent are just not thinking right at all. I suspect it's a case of overrating our own players and that's understandable but when the best PG in the league is available you do everything reasonably possible to acquire him.

    There is a huge, huge gap between having a really good PG (Brooks) and having an MVP caliber one.

    So you're saying NO will give up Paul for Rondo and garbage contracts? LOL why would they do that?

    A trade for Paul and Rondo wouldn't make sense for both teams, simply because those two are already among the top pgs in the league. Cp3's better offensively, but Rondo's a much better defender. If there is any difference in ability, its probably covered by the fact that Rondo is making significantly less than Paul.

    We are one of the only teams that has the assets to obtain CP3.

    The only fear for me are Paul's knees. Otherwise, a two year window with Yao's status is fine with me. If Paul doesn't work out, or wants to go elsewhere, he can be traded again.

    Truth. Hell even Rondo's extension came with $55 million guaranteed.

    Plus he has written approximately 800 pages more in a book on basketball than any of us have.

    Paul is waaaayyyy better offensively than Rondo and is a solid defensive player too. He led the league in steals two years in a row. The only complaint about him defensively is he isn't long like Rondo, but he is much stronger and has equally great instincts disrupting opposing team's offensive flow.

    I don't see how Boston is a possible destination... They don't have the assets for a trade, unless Rondo and Paul's salaries match up.
