I was just watching Sportscenter and they discussed how Yao's injury has been overplayed. They believe there is still a good chance that he will be back next season. He just really does not want to have surgery, but if he has to to get back on the court he will. I am sooo much happier!!! :D

Is it possible this was purposely released by Morey to help us on the trade front and in free agency?

Clanton made some pretty concerning statements about the injury.

We are still screwed unless we can find another scoring option.

    Bucher's tweet.........

Yao update: Same situation as March '08. Returned for Olympics and best season. Likeliest scenario - surgery, misses part of next season.

Gosh, being a fan of this team is such a roller coaster ride! It's exhausting! BUT, I'm glad to hear that maybe it isn't as bad as people have said it is!.... (fingers crossed!)

If this was some kind of damage control, which I'm not saying it is, it might encourage a player to sign with us over another team. The FAs we would likely covet would want to play on a contender.

Again, I was just throwing it out there because of Clanton's comments about Yao's foot.

On the other hand, maybe the initial report was put out there to free Yao up from obligations to the Chinese national team. If that is the case though, why would they backtrack from the initial report?

I hope Yao is OK but given the earlier reports, I'd like to hear some more concrete evidence as to why there is suddenly less concern. Maybe a second doctor revised the outlook?

good, now rest him for the first half of the season so
so he can be close to 80 to 100% healthy for the postseason.
still need a backup C though

Umm on espn.com it says he may be back at some point or he may miss the entire season. I'm not really sure how that's good news.

at this point, no one knows. we aren't going to just replace a 7'6 with skills. there isn't another person in the world that can do what yao does. we're screwed... unless these reports have been exaggerated and he does return a year or two from now. i could live a year without yao, if he's going to come back healthy.
