1990s (91-95) Cowboys: It was one of the greatest and more interesting five year runs in sports' history 1999-04 Los Angeles Lakers: See above. 1996-2009 New York Yankees: Cemented their legacy as the greatest MLB franchise in history. 1980s Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics: Wasn't a fan of either team, but have made the NBA what it is today. Baltimore Ravens: A really good new-old franchise. New England Patriots (present): Haven't had a losing record, since 2000.
Notre Dame; their entire aura is exasperating and has just a hint of self-righteousness, when the reality is most programs have to tolerate the same types of people, practices and culture to win continually. But then you look at their statistics up until maybe the late '90s and it's staggering. And basketball in North Carolina, my god. They and Vitale are pretty much everything that exhausts about college ball, but the coaches have mostly been good guys with seemingly good kids; people like Montross and Hill. Compared to certifiable a-holes like Calipari, psychos like N. Richardson or Knight or sewer rats like Tark.
Why would someone dislike the Cardinals? As Astros fans we know the rivalry we had for a decade, but the team has always carried itself well and never did anything to cause me to dislike them, and as fans go Cardinals fans were extremely easy to deal with compared to others. I hate the Cowboys and Lakers, but I don't respect them either. Spurs, Mavericks, Steelers, Patriots, Red Sox. Mostly because of their fans, but you have to respect their on field performance.
I'm a little confused, do you mean the "immaculate reception" replicated here: Or "the catch" referenced here:
Cardinals fans are the absolute worst. Self proclaimed "best fans in baseball" -- full of racist punks. Look no further than twitter if you want to see first hand. Every fan base has its bad fans, but the Cardinals seem to have a lot of them. https://twitter.com/BestFansStLouis
Golden State Warriors, after being putrid for the last 40 years, they might have assembled one of the greatest teams ever through the draft and low-key FA moves. THEN, they signed arguably 2nd or 3rd best player in the world and made great team, even greater than normal. New England Patriots, mainly Belichick and Brady, they've been able to make the playoffs every single year, except for 03 and 09, in the modern hard Salary cap era of the NFL (in those two seasons, they were .. 9-7 and 11-5, one was in Brady's second year as a starter and he was injured in the other one. And achieved the greatest comeback in NFL/sports history in the Super Bowl. Los Angeles Lakers - For some odd reason, they always ended up with great "generational-defining" player from each generation and are entertaining to watch: West/Baylor (60s), Wilt (60s/70s), Kareem (70s/80s), Magic (80s/90s), McAdoo (70s), Shaq (90s/00s), Kobe (00s/10s), Malone/Payton (90s, briefly) and now they have LeBron (00s/10s). They also have alot of great HOF talent, really good players, and all-stars, like Goodrich, Dantley, Worthy, Scott, Cooper, Divac, Van Exel, E.Jones, C.Ceballos, R.Fox, R.Horry, H.Grant, P.Gasol, A.Bynum, and L.Odom. Young talent, like Russell (was), Randle (was), Ball, Kuzma, and Ingram. If there are teams that define the personality of their cities, I think the Lakers and Los Angeles are arguably the most alike with regards to the Yankees (NYC), Packers (GB), Cowboys (Dallas), and Red Wings (Detroit). Utah Jazz, They keep trying, but it's so laughable when they fail.
Lakers - those showtime 80's teams were so much fun to watch and I think those Finals matchups against the Celtics were some of the most compelling sporting events ever. Notre Dame football - love the long tradition and I think college football is more fun when they're in the NC mix. Miami football - same reason as Notre Dame, I think college football is just more fun when Miami is good.
My respect for the board shot up when no one repped those sorry ass teams on page one, then the respect dropped lower when I realized thread was a necrobump.
