This is a little off topic, but whatever happend to "The Fifth Quarter" on 950 am after the Rocket games?
I don't mind them joking around about it, but I really hate how hypocrtical they are. If you listen to them for a week, you'll hear at least a couple of mentions about how Houston isn't the greatest sports town, and the fans are fairweather, and they'll complain on about if for a couple of minutes. While true, no need to complain while they themselves spout the same kind of crappy fan attitude on air. They're fairweather sports hosts and I, for one, don't call in an talk about the Rockets with them because I know it will be painful due to either their lack of knowledge or their attempt at making a joke out of the fact that I actually want to discuss Rockets. Also, I don't understand how anyone can take that Body Solutions stuff. Anything that just takes weight off your body without you doing any work has got to have something wrong with it.
re "Body Solutions": Its simple...the manufacturer has a national contract which specifies "local endorsement." Management then asks for 'volunteers' among the cheap and easily replacable and voila... re: "The Fifth Quarter." Agreed...I miss the show. Apparently the Rockets weren't quite as savvy as the Astros in writing into their contract the requirement of a post-game call-in show. Besides, the sports staff is spread thin enough over the six million stations they own in the city. Ain't radio consolidation grand?
