Amen brother. I used to love Rich and Charlie, but now I cant stand the afternoon show. Marc can be good, but Rich doesnt even talk sports. I switch to Charlie during the afternoon, he is the best we have in houston. The 610 afternoon show needs to change it up. They have endless segments where they dont talk sports! I know this is off topic, but had to say my piece.
The only reason I don't switch to 790 at this point is because I really don't like the one host format. I liked Rich when he was with Charlie and I'm not so sure it's a case of Charlie was holding Rich up as much as it's Rich being brought down by Vanderdork. Honestly, that guy is so bad I can't stop listening. That and Chance works there. I try to always support my fellow CC.neters.
The temperature in Dallas right now is 102 and the heat index is 111... I KNOW YOU'RE JEALOUS!!! (... somebody get me some ice... )
Yeah, that's the biggest bull**** myth about the two cities. The summer when I lived there was just as bad as it is here. I couldn't walk from the train to my truck without being drenched.
Not really, but it's definitely not worse. BTW, I still owe you some wings. After the honeymoon, we'll get together.
I too support 610, the only show I try not to listen to is Marc and Rich, plus I do think Charlie's insight and the fact that he talks SPORTS, and not movies, music, or anything else that seems to enter into rich's mind. The Night Shift is fantastic, I also really like matt and adam on the Rockets fan feedback.
significantly more than there. seriously. you can feel it. particularly the closer to the coast you go. there's a breeze here at night in the summers on many nights. the air in central and north texas is absolutely still at nights in the summer. it will be 10p.m. and the temperature is still in the 90's. the heat index will be approaching 100 degrees at freaking midnight. that doesn't happen in Houston. not regularly, anyway.
RM95, MadMax, You know, after having lived in Houston for 24 years and now in Dallas for 8, it's definitely hotter here in Dallas - even the heat index in Dallas is higher. But... I feel way more uncomfortable in Houston. There are times I go back there and can barely breathe during the summer because the air is so thick. I think the dew point has something to do with it...
Yes it does. That is the first thing I noticed about Dallas. It was 103 here at 5pm a couple of days ago. Houston cools off from 90+ to 70's-80's at night. In Dallas it's still in the 80's and 90's at 9-10pm most of the time. There's no huge body of water around us to help us cool off whereas Houston has the Gulf.
that's what the heat index takes into account... the hottest summer i ever spent IN MY LIFE was the summer of 96 in Waco. seriously...just ridiculous. never cooled down. weeks of temps exceeding 100 degrees. humid enough that your windows would be fogged up when you'd wake up in the morning. still air all the time. even growing up here in Houston, i noticed the difference there.
and the key really isn't the temperature at night..but the heat index. again, it can be 11 p.m. in dallas (that area of the state) and the heat index will be at 99 degrees or higher. that's nuts. the sun has been down nearly 3 hours at that point, and it still feels like the temperature is around 100. insane.
That is complete nonsense. First of all, it's not about the heat between the two cities. It's about the humidity. And it does cool down at night. Many nights if there is a breeze (and north of Dallas there usually is) it quite pleasant.
let's look at tonight for example: http://www.weather.com/activities/o...id=USTX0327&from=36hr_fcstHourLink_undeclared hmmm..forecasted heat index in dallas of 101 degrees at 9pm. and in Houston?? http://www.weather.com/activities/o...id=USTX0617&from=36hr_fcstHourLink_undeclared heat index around 89 degrees at the same time. temps in the low 80's while temps are still in the mid-90's in dallas. i know you can't base everything off one day. but the above has been my experience in dallas and houston virtually every summer. and apparently, i'm not alone, judging from the posts from others who've lived in both places, as well.
Today was overcast. It was 92 and more humid than it will ever be in Dallas at 9:30 last night as I went to my softball game. It gets hot virtually everywhere, it's the humidity that separates Houston from the rest.
