Damn, I hope the 610 crew didn't read this thread. Some bruised egos are walking around 610 studios if they did, lol.
Rich and Charlie were digging through the morning crews emails this morning and read a few of the 'angry' ones on air. Seems a lot of people were venting their monring rage via their email box today.
If it's an April Fools joke I'm guessing Rich and Charlie aren't loving the response. This joke just brought out a lot of pissed off people who hate some of the on air talent regardless of what shift they work.
I sent an email asking about the web stream and the response I got is that the parent company of them (Infinity Broadcasting I believe) doesnt allow its stations to broadcast on the net. This company has over 140 stations, many of which are FM stations which definitely cannot broadcast on the net without having to pay a bunch of money. The AM stations should be able to broadcast no problem since they are not playing copyrighted songs, but I guess their company just gave a blanket "No-Web broadcasts" to all its stations. Pretty stupid if you ask me
Whether it is a joke or not is immaterial. There are people out there that hate some of our talent...it's natural...we have a very diverse group of hosts. I highly doubt there are a lot of people that love Charlie and /i] John. the two hosts are totally different. But my hope is that there are people that only listen to the morning or only listen to the afternoon. I want them to meet the talent from the opposing show. All four of those guys are great, just in their own ways. With only one sports station in town its difficult to keep everyone happy..the diehard sports fans get tired of John and Lances 'fun' and the people that work their asses off and want an occasional chuckle often find R&C too straight laced. It's a diverse demo and trust me when I say we are trying! Your comments, btw, are being read and have been read by our Program Director, Station Manager, and all of the on air talent so the things you say are meaningful. I have been using this bbs as a barometer for almost five years and am glad to see the station is too. once you lop off the top and bottom 10 percent of extremist opinions, suggestions, and views we are left with a good idea of how we are doing. All in all I think we are doing pretty well...but not nearly well enough. I wholly disagree with the stigma affixed to Houston that we are a bad sports town. I want to change that, or at least help the station change it. Thank you for all of your comments,a s always you guys rule.
Actually Chance, I think you guys are doing a standup job. I love the morning and afternoon shows. Marc V... not my flava If you could just replace Rome with Dan Patrick or some local talent!!!!!! All in all, its a relief to listen to 610 after years of assclownessness in Austin on 1300 "da zone"
Infinity is pilotting a few stations and or shows with webcasts right now. Pray for these shows to do well.
How are Rich and Charlie too straight faced? Their humor is a little more dry and understated, but they can be hilarious at times...
I agree 100% with this post. I thought once Pruitt and The Boner were axed on 101, I would be hard pressed to find another show close to it. I tried 93.7, but I hate that music in between their rants. 101 is TERRIBLE as is every other show in the morning drive time hours. Once I started listening to John and Lance I became a diehard 610 listener. I guess they were the bait needed to lure me in. I also dig Charlie and Rich, but they're not what I want to wake up to. Comedy, off topic junk mixed in with sports is what I dig when wiping the sleep boogars from my lids. John and Lance are the perfect fit together in my opinion. I also love the show from 8-10 (Matt Jackson?). Good stuff. Now if only they could get Sporting News radio back and flush Dan Patrick ASAP! What an incredibly boring "I'll kiss your ass and laugh at your jokes if you do the same for me" show.
This thread just shows that people will b**** about anything. These are BY FAR the two best radio sports shows in the city and two of the best in the country in whatever order you take them. I really didn't like sports radio until I heard J&L. All that said, Vandy is good but could use a comedic sidekick.
If you mean people b****ing about the switch, clearly one show works in the morning and one works in the afternoon. If you mean peoole b****ing about any particular show, clearly its just a matter of opinion.
