CD is doing his best not to give it away. I'm sure he is hoping that the back issue with J.J. causes teams to shy away from him so he can make that NO deal and get JJ at 12 along with another player at 15 in exchange for the #8. But he's got to know that Seattle, Golden State, and Orlando are not going to take his man before he makes the deal.

I think there is going to be a surprising lack of trade activity on draft day because teams are going to get too scared that if they trade down, that another team will just grab their player and they won't get him. I'm sure there will be a couple deals but it wouldn't surprise me if everybody clamped down and held onto their spots and got their man. See, if Toronto is going to work a trade with Portland, it is fraught with risk. Because Chicago is sitting there and they really know who Toronto wants. They can throw a monkey wrench in the whole thing by just taking Toronto's guy. So, Toronto is going to have to decide who they want and they they are going to have to decide if he will be available at #4 or #3. I don't think they can do it. Because they probably want either Aldridge or Bargnani. And if they draft for Portland, and they really want Bargnani, all Chicago has to do is snap him up. Chicago could make Bargnani work for them. He plays the 4, Nocioni the 3, Deng and Gordon the 2, and Hinrich and Duhon the 1, with Deng and Gordon on the trade blocks.

I just think it all points to the only way we get a top 6 player is to do a deal with Atlanta where we pick Shelden and they pick for us but who knows what we will have to give up to get that deal done. And Atlanta is all tied up with Philly in those Harrington/Dalembert talks.

So, the whole thing is if CD can help push J.J. down past Orlando, if he can help promote Brewer, Carney, and the big men, then he can get J.J. at 12, and then maybe either that Johnson kid or a Rondo at 15. But, if he doesn't feel like his man is going to be there when they move down, he won't take him. I really think they probably have J.J. rated in the top 8 on their board because of the needs of our team.

If we draft JJ, and into the season his back goes out. JJ supporters better not run and hide.

My impression was that he was talking about trading their pick.

That was kind of my impression after the interview as well. They wouldn't care that much to find out about his back from his people if he wasn't a candidate for the Rockets to pick.

really other than the fact it's a rocket's interview a week before the draft it was pretty worthless. listening to the entire thing i have no clue who we are going to take. there's just as much there to suggest we wouldn't take roy, carney, or brewer as there is to us not taking redick.

That's CD for you. If you weren't confused, he'd feel like he didn't do his job.

I'd think we might want to move Roy up the list of guys CD is looking at and hoping to get.

Typical CD... is he snowing us because he's interested in getting Redick, and wants him to fall, or is he talking straight? Does CD ever talk straight this time of year??

    (thanks, mogrod!)

We've all had a go interpreting the nuances of CD's interview even when there were none :D Maybe we're listening to the wrong people for the answers? Maybe...

Bad back, dodging the police, DUI, pulling out of workouts, and not working out competitively.

Gets drafted somewhere from late lottery to upper-mid 1st round?

Maybe CD wants to trade up to get Roy, but doesn't want to sound to eager, so that is why he is saying Brewer and Carney are just as good.

He just played an entire college season, and his back was fine, my guess is that he may have tweaked it, but I THINK it is all a smoke screen.

DUI arrest while driving a TOYOTA with TEXAS license plates.

That's kind of what I'm thinking, especially more so that a rumore popped saying we might move up to #6. CD also hasn't talked much about Roy even though he was asked about him. Also said that Brewer and Carney could go before #8 (everyone knows that won't be the case).

    I stand corrected.

Redick looks like a great pick. ;)

Mark: It's been said Roy may possess the best defensive skills out of those three. Would you agree with that?

CD: Well, you know i, i wouldn't, erm say Brewer wouldn't (something) in the area (some quick mutterings on Brewer)... They're all really close. None of them might be there when we draft.

CD's comments make alot of sense now in conjunction with the revelation that we are allegedly exploring a deal to nab Roy. What stood out most in that interview, other than the comment about Reddick's back, was when CD grouped Carney, Brewer, and Roy together as about equal in response to a question about whether Roy was a notch above. That was obviously BS. It's common knowledge that Roy is far and away the best big guard in this draft.

If you can nab Roy, wow, you have to do it. That guy is a stud.

Hey since everyone is trying to figure out what he wants to do and he is purposely making it impossible to do so.

    let's ponder this,

Since it's impossible to figure out who he wants by his comments, let's just keep in mind how secretive the Rockets really are.

About 2 days before the ESPn story first broke about the Francis-T-Mac deal, JVG and CD said "we will never trade Steve Francis."

So every single thing they are saying at this point may be a lie.

    Now thats funny!!!!!!

An interesting thing CD said about Sheldon Williams nobody has mentioned (that I have seen) was when asked where he thought he would get picked and would we make a move to trade him if he was available to us CD said "SHeldon stopped working out for teams, What about three weeks ago? I think he is already going somewhere!" I found that to be an interesting comment about a guy he didn't spend much time talking about. Did he workout for us three weeks ago?
