He's just not that good...and definitely not as good as he thinks he is. He had one big year in San Antonio riding along with Robinson and Duncan, who made him look good (I even thought they would've beaten the Lakers that year had he not gotten hurt). Then he got money hungry and screwed up a good thing. Now he's past his prime...I'm glad we didn't spend much money on him.

I'd like to see us package a combination (or all of) Anderson, Wesley, Swift, and Moochie for someone who is a good scorer and a difference maker at SG or PF. I'd even have our pick, Head, and Hayes available if we can get a young, legit starter that can score at either one of those positions. But if we're going to trade young talent, we better be getting young talent in return.

I'd love to get Eric Williams, if Toronto would oblige ...

I was hoping we might trade him, but thought it might be too difficult, since he signed for cheap. But, he might work as an expiring contract filler for a trade, now.

The guy never really had a chance and I would bet that he goes to the Lakers and starts hitting 50% of his threes when he gets there. The Alston deal is still a tossup because we are still a sub .500 team (I know the injuries) but man these offseason deals that looked so good have really soured.

so when we can't trade him and end up cutting him, he could very possibly be getting checks from three different teams.

    damn

sign me up for his job.

I'm disappointed because I thought DA would fit right in as a scorer off the bench. But he's so injury prone that he's isn't worth the trouble. If he hadn't got hurt I think it would have worked out.

i think the only places he is gonna go is Denver, Lakers, Cleveland (hughes is out longer than expected)

from those teams are a few players whose salaries come close enough. I'd take Walton from the lakers but thats not gonna happen. there isn't anyone else on the roster i'd really want to take.

i think i'd take luke jackson from the cavs. more scoring for us.

Its all Carroll Dawson and JVG's fault.

Dawson seemed completely uninterested in getting a player that makes sense on the rockets. Rather he just wanted to get the best guy out there or find a good deal. Swift had no logic in coming to a JVG run team. They might not have though out Anderson either.

Why does EVERY player that fails under JVG have to take the blame. I mean with the amount of failures, dont you think its time to question JVG.

What the hell happened? Anyway, I hope we can get Eric Williams, that will be good deal.

    My thoughts exactly.

While the off season pick ups seem to have failed thus far, except for Alston who has turned the corner IHO at least, the bright side is we didn't overpay for any of these guys.

Had we sold the farm for them, maybe I'd be a lot more angry.

DA wish it worked out but it didn't, oh well.

Would you trade Wesley and DA to the knicks for Crawford?

    Houston Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing

    Derek Anderson
    6-5 SG from Kentucky
    10.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.6 apg in 29.1 minutes

    David Wesley
    6-1 SG from Baylor
    10.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.1 apg in 35.5 minutes

    Incoming

    Jamal Crawford
    6-5 SG from Michigan
    14.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.9 apg in 33.1 minutes
Change in team outlook: -7.6 ppg, -3.7 rpg, and -1.8 apg.

    New York Trade Breakdown

    Outgoing

    Jamal Crawford
    6-5 SG from Michigan
    14.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.9 apg in 33.1 minutes

    Incoming

    Derek Anderson
    6-5 SG from Kentucky
    10.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.6 apg in 29.1 minutes

    David Wesley
    6-1 SG from Baylor
    10.8 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.1 apg in 35.5 minutes
Change in team outlook: +7.6 ppg, +3.7 rpg, and +1.8 apg.

    Successful Scenario
Due to Houston and New York being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and New York had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Well If he's package with Swift or Moochies expiring we could back a better player than most would at first think.

...and overpay the guy for next year, too?

No, let me give DA/DW/JH to Cavs for DM/DJ/ES ... then flip Snow to NYK for JC/DL ... then flip JC/MN to Blazers for DM ... then flip DM for yada yada yada.

I got a better idea. How about you break out your Lakers jersey and become a full-fledged Lakers fans.

Not really. Most of the players that have played for him have called him the best coach they have ever played for. I can understand frustration with his control issues and his slow-down offense, but he is a good coach. DA is a decent player, just didn't mesh well with the team (on the court). I'm all for trading him if he won't conform to JVG's style.

I dont think DA's responsible for this...he was frustrated that he's been healthy for a week or more and he wasnt put on the active list...this is all JVG's doing...I dont think DA "gave up" by any means, I just think for some reason or another, JVG doesnt want him here anymore...Obviously JVG's pushing the panic button because DA was averaging 12 ppg before his injury...atleast give the man 10 games following his injury to see what he can do...I loved how he defended, passed, and he hardly took bad shots...he didnt shoot a high percentage, but his shot selection was never in question...

I think if you asked alot of the veterans on this team, most would want out...JVG's act is wearing very thin, and I think that's getting clearer day by day...
