All those people who say Steve is a ball hog, who was he supposed to pass to the previous 4 seasons? Whose shooting number were hurt by Steve's play. Eddie Griffin?? Kelvin Cato?? Walt Williams?? Shandon Anderson?? MoTaylor??

Steve is in the top five of the league in APG (8.0) since the beginning of January, if it counts for anything

    What is their record?

What was the final record last year?

That is a winning record, right?

Well, then what could explain JVG playing Steve many minutes and letting him control the ball so much? Why doesn't he let Cuttino create if Cuttino is so much better? I mean, you would never see Rasho Nesterovic take more shots than Duncan. Ricky Davis won't be an option over Paul Pierce So what do you think is going on? (You know my answer- despite his struggles, Steve is still vastly more talented and can create a lot more open shots.)

Also, from the stats you linked to, we win either when a) Steve creates for his teammates and racks up assists or b) Yao plays well.

These guys are our 2 stars. I hope Yao becomes our #1 option eventually, but right now, it's Steve.

It counts for nothing as long as he is among league leaders in turnovers.

By the same token, is Cat the most underrated player in the league this year? He's stepped up his defense and cut down on the ballhogging. He's been playing sensational ball this year.

Steve is (unfortunately) our best PG. I don't think we can depend on Wilks to play 40 mins per game.

I suppose thats one way to look at it. Another is that the Rockets are under .500 whenever Steve shoots 15 times or more, while they are way over .500 when Yao and/or Cat do. That tells me that Steve is not the best option on offense, but rather, when he is the #1 option, it is bad news for the Rox.

In the second half in the Boston win, the only time the Celtics began to close the gap was when Steve was in.
Clogging the lane (which belonged to Yao all night), with his ridiculous efforts to dribble between two people, holding the ball while teammates waited to see WHAT THE HELL insanity he would try next, pass after ridiculous pass after he'd dribbled himself into a bind...Took the wind right out of the motion of the offense.
I'm sorry, been a Steve fan since his days at SJC, but he is the ball and chain of this offense.
I enjoyed seeing JJ get on his ass after he jacked up that crap 7 seconds before the half. Ridiculous shot, gave them the ball back with time left. Thank God everyone else were still in the game.
