subtle i'm fine with..play to your own strengths...advertise your strengths..tout that you're local..that you were here first...etc. but "assume the position??" or calling out someone else's programming?? that's just dumb.
This is starting to border on PS2 vs. Xbox, and it doesn't need to be. I like having two stations.... when one of them goes to their 7 minute commercial block (where all the ads/jingles are the most annoying thing on radio), I can gladly switch to the other one and not miss a beat. Rome never did much for me... but when he's good, he's real good (as opposed to DP who has never been good). Nonetheless, DP still gets guys like Gammons, Neyer, and other baseball folk who know there stuff... so he's worth a listen to when he's got informative guests. I don't think this needs to be one vs. the other.... enjoy both. Morning show on 610, Rome/DP (whichever your preference), 1 hour of afternoon show on 610, Pallilo on 790 from 3-7, and then MJ/Rockets game/Astros game after that.
Hey, that's sounds like a good plan. Before I moved back to Houston, I used to like The Tony Bruno show -- i guess he quit -- Van Earl and Andrew S. are not as good (IMO). But I like the variety. EDIT(XBOX)
i so wanna be the first caller and tell him off for leaving 610 & going to Clear Channel - kick his show off with a bang
It's good to hear Charlie back on the air. I don't think I realized how much I enjoy listening to him until he was gone for a while.
Is it just me or is Vandy really reaching back today.... sounds like he's trying to mix in a funny joke (which aren't that funny) every chance he can get. Maybe its a little pressure... but the Voice has always been better when he sticks to talking sports, and lets his "voice" do all the work. CP has been his usual self... lots of info.... nice interview with Tom Penders so far that gave me more insight into the UH b-ball program (who else knew they were 7-3) than I've gotten from anywhere else, tv, radio, and newspaper included (not that I'm a UH alum, or fan... but its always great to learn something new, rather than the usual Texans/Beltran/JVG-Rockets talk, for which I already know enough from you guys anyways). Mike Golic is on right now... gotta love that ESPN radio love. Maybe CP can get Gammons or Kurkjian on, and let them get a rest from their constant east-coast bias.
Vanderbeek has always sucked, period. No good football play by play guy says "he's at the 10... the 5... progressive country... touchdown Texans!!!
Mike Golic & ESPN Radio blow goat balls - ESPECIALLY Colin Cowherd. I've never heard a more biased, jackass blowhard than Cowherd. It's rare that a radio personality makes me wish I could reach into my stereo and smack them... Cowherd gives me this feeling on a daily basis.
Drayton is coming on in 5 minutes... what's the over/under on him saying... "We're doing whatever it takes to be champions... We want to be the best... we're going to do what it takes."
