signal strength is exactly the same. we have different directions. you know how a parabolic mic picks up the sound from a specific direction? some AM signals operate in just the opposite manner. we send our signal in a specific direction.
I hate ESPN programming. I'll listen to 610 throughout the day until 3pm. Charlie is still better than Marc, Rich and Matt. When listening to the afternoon show i rarely find myself saying "Good point, didn't think about that angle, etc.." It's more of "Duh i know that".
cool..well, i wasn't going to leave..but i'm kind of a captive audience, now...because 790 is nowhere near a listenable signal where i am in my office.
I'm not sure how you can get a bad signal for 610 after 5:30. I used to listen to it sometimes in Austin (a little distorted) and often listen in the car here in Corpus, 200 miles away. Pretty much clear at all hours of the day.
I live in Spring and every day at 5:30pm there's a small click and then shssssshhhshhsh. It doesn't clear up until around 7am (2 clicks then it's clear). At first I thought I just had at crappy radio so I bought another one and I got same reception. Someone in another thread mentioned it may be something about other radio stations...I don't know but it's really annoying especially during Rockets games. Edit: 6:30pm during spring and summer
Yes, according to this article in the Chron today: http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/barron/2955350 KBME (790 AM) launched its new all-sports format at midnight Sunday. The station's Web site went to all-black Sunday with the words "Please stand by. ... " Charlie Pallilo begins his talk show on 790 this afternoon with the help of news updates from David Dalati, then goes to court Tuesday for a hearing in Infinity Broadcasting's legal battle to keep him from going to work for Clear Channel Radio.
So that's what that is. I get 2 clicks every morning at the exact same time. I never knew what it was.
This is going to be ugly. CC went for the jugular right away. Shortly after the flip, they ran two spots aimed directly at the incumbent: "Sorry, no home improvement show here...," and "HEY! 610! ASSUME THE POSITION. (Followed by a non-Homeresque D'oh)"
sounds pretty lame to me. just stupid. i'm hoping that 610 doesn't follow suit. yeah..assume the position..we have the crappy dan patrick show. yea for us!
The earliest I could see it happening is when the contract runs out, and I believe it was just renewed. Even then, the Astros are strong enough, that I could see them refusing to anything less than KTRH or KPRC.
