how often do Rafer or Luther bring the ball up in clutch time? Thats McGrady time, so unless teams want to trap Tmac and leave Yao 1 on 1, there shouldnt be that much pressure on the ball handerlers. Yao changes everything in our offense, just give it some time to get clicking again, then sit back and admire.
Our greatest weakness is our greatest strength, imo. We have the best one-two punch in the league, yes. But does that make our role players better or does that make them lazier? I just feel that sometimes when Yao and Tracy are there that players like Rafer and Juwan (and to an extent Luther and others) just look on and expect them to make plays. I just wish our role players would play with fire all the time.
Our PG position (Rafer, and then Head) is a major, major sticking point for me come playoff time. In crunch time, I have little faith in either guy to be able to handle the ball and play 'mistake-free' -- as Battier would put it -- against the top-notch teams in the league. But again, let's make it out of the first round and then we can start worrying about the elites (Mavs, Suns, and Spurs). For now, I am going to keep having nightmares about Deron Williams and Derek Fisher; I can only handle so much at one time.
"Sip it, slug it -- believe it. The glass is half-full. The Rockets are contenders. Here's looking at you, kid." BELIEVE IT!!!
agree 100% but you cant expect our roles players to be like superstars when our superstars are having off night! look at phx without nash!! celts without pierce! miami without wade! lakers with kobe! etc. this is why our team is built around 2 players! but like I said I agree with you about our role players being more consistant!
