It's a joke on Steve Kerr saying Kaman is as good or better than Yao.

The one thing Oden definitely has on his side is time.

He was invited to participate on the US Men's Senior team this past summer at the World Championships. Jerry Colangelo and Coach K were definitely looking down the road (2008) with his invite.

Oden might not have to do anything but dunk right now -- on the college level -- but remember what was said about Patrick Ewing's perceived lack of offense when he matriculated into the NBA from Georgetown. And Ewing didn't do too badly as a scorer in the NBA.

One other thing -- Oden is shooting free throws left handed right now, because of the surgery on his right wrist. Once that heals properly, he'll probably resume shooting FTs right-handed.

the age difference between Yao and Oden is the same as that between Yao and Shaq. I don't see many great battles in their careers. Yao'll probably be past his prime when Oden enters his.

Remember, Yao came into the league 9-10 years after Shaq's rookie season, wihle Oden comes in about 5 years after Yao's rookie season, so I don't see that much of an age differance between them. Plus Shaq relies on his speed and strength, while Yao has a nice soft shooting touch that shouldn't fade away like O'neal's. Get ready for some great center battles in the years to come.
